Check out HBO's "Rome" (2005), awesome series. Only 20 episodes.Goodspeed wrote:TV series
HBO gives a free week trial, so you don't have to pay for watching it.
Also check out Chernobyl if you haven't.

The two seasons are great, it's a good series to watch if you haven't.

I just found a Spider-Man 3 hat the theater gave me when I went to go see it in 2007 because I was like 15 minutes late.Good ol Ivan wrote:Fuck you, go watch spiderman or something, you god damn zoomer.gibson wrote:The Irishman sucked, boring

Re: Official Best Movies Thread
It doesn't end "abruptly". The series was cancelled after the first season, but HBO still told them to go ahead and make their last (second) season, so they did their best to fit the plot of their next 3 planned seasons in one season. They did just that and it worked out really good. The series does start up with a very slow pace and its a bit hard to keep up with it at the very beginning, but it gets good. Very damn good.voigt1240 wrote:Can be sad to start something has ends ''abruptly ''Good ol Ivan wrote:Yeah, so?voigt1240 wrote:Was Rome not cancelled though?

Shit, all my favorite series already are on that list. It's actually a good list I can agree with, good job.Goodspeed wrote:I actually rewatched Rome recently. Good shit.Good ol Ivan wrote:Check out HBO's "Rome" (2005), awesome series. Only 20 episodes.Goodspeed wrote:TV series

Only thing I can come up with at this point is anime.
Check out Puella Magi Madoka Magica. It's kind of like Evangelion, but done properly and without boring you to death. Only 12 episodes and it's on Netflix.
Last series I watched is Vikings, started out ok but became very disappointing not long after. Doesn't deserve to be on the list, but if you got nothing better to do watch the first three seasons, then turn off your t.v. and forget about it altogether.

Nice to see somebody loving The Wire. If you are in to crimes; i would offer you "Şahsiyet", a Turkish TV series. It starts kinda slow so dont expect too much, but it is a worth to watch mini-series. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7920978/?ref_=tt_urvGoodspeed wrote:I actually rewatched Rome recently. Good shit.

Re: Official Best Movies Thread
I watched it two days ago. It did fuck my brain, but honestly not in a good way. Even mindfuck/timetravel/plottwist movies need a solid logic foundation to actually stick with me. Other Nolan movies like Inception and Memento can also be hard to follow but the overall concept is pretty simple and up to a point even believable. In Tenet, the actors literally say "Don't try to understand it" which basically turns the movie into a more generic action/spy movie instead of a thought-provoking Nolan action thriller like Inception. If I don't try to understand it, why am I even caring about the concept of the movie and the movie itself?Warno wrote:Has anyone seen Tenet?
I watched it tonight and it put my brain in a pretzel, it was very well done.
I also couldn't really care about the characters because they aren't really developed and had clunky dialogue from time to time, which didn't help.
Overall I enjoyed the movie because it was a new time-travel concept, had good action scenes and showed Nolans experience in making movies, but I think this is one of the worst Nolan movies overall.

There are very few animes that I've liked and even those I'm not a huge fan of. Unless you have some exceptionally convincing reasons I'm not wasting more time trying to get into a genre that I'm very clearly not the target audience of.

Many things about it are off putting. Season 2 was really good tho. But also there are far many more series that are more worth watching.

Anime does tend to be cringey as hell.
I'm not trying to get you into the genre tho, just saying that one anime is good, as a former anime fan.
The plot starts up very innocent but gets pretty dark and psychological without being edgy (e.g. Evangelion). The core idea is that what you end up watching ia very different to what you originally expected. The character development is great and the plot twists are pretty engaging.
But if you find anime unlikeable then you probably won't enjoy it, so I'm not going to try convincing you further.
Re: Official Best Movies Thread
Something recent and entertaining is Time trap on netflix. There's a cave where time goes faster and a group of teens just get lost inside of it.

It's probably unlikely you are into animation series, but if you are Over the garden wall is a really well done mini series. A silly, and dark journey through limbo.
Re: Official Best Movies Thread
The fugitive is a really good show, Harrison Ford acted the part really well and the story’s good. It’s early 90’s I think. Good cast.fightinfrenchman wrote:Give me some good recommendations for 80s/early 90s action movies
Also, “The Clear and Ever Present Danger” is less actiony, but also very good.
