I'd imagine the answer for these questions would be very individual for each person. For me:XeeleeFlower wrote:Do you pay for music, movies, TV, games, or any other entertainment?harcha wrote:imagine paying for every nutShow hidden quotes
Music - I've gathered up a collection of mp3s from when my dad showed me how to use revconnect/dc++. I've since went to a few concerts. Eventually I started using Spotify for free, temporarily moved to paid as i could get it for 3.5 eur when I was a student. Now ending the subscription as this crisis will not be nice for me. At the same time I also listen to music on Youtube, in fact this is where I listen music the most in the last about 6 years. Of course I block ads. For the longest time Youtube Paid version was not available in Latvia, last I checked was half a year ago. Now that I need to save money I wont care about that anyway.
Movies - I go to cinema about once in a year when I feel like going out. But generally I don't care about new movies so I just download them wherever when I am in the mood. I watch very little so paying for a subscription to get access to 40% of the movies that could interest me seems ridiculous.
TV - I watch a few shows, most of which aren't on Netflix. I am not aware if other services are available in Latvia, I would guess that they are not.
Games - I don't buy any new games. For the longest time I didn't buy any games. The account I started playing this game on (KNIGHT_Br) was not mine, but borrowed. The account I play now is not mine, it is borrowed. I did get a couple of free keys from Zuter's Saturday Smackdowns, I've yet to utilize these 5 year old keys. I have purchased a few games in the last 2 years, most of which I haven't played more than 1 hour, except one. It makes sense to buy some older games on Steam as it is more complicated to find pirated copies and ways to make them work flawlessly.
Other entertainment - I've visited theater once in the last 5 years. I have went to some museums and expositions though.
All of this, though, is irrelevant, because what I meant with what I say is that it is ridiculous to think that I would pay for a bodily necessity. Even less so when internet is full of free stuff, the only limitation is your resourcefulness. Just off the top of my head if you bought a "premium" pic every time you did the naughty (say 10 bucks), that could amount to 12x365x3x10=131 400 dollars... I don't know if I will even earn that amount of money in 12 years time, not to mention have it as "spare cash".
