I'll let it slide for now but please don't make a new thread for each tourney.

I thought about that and decided to make a new thread to increase visibility. But yeah, making a dozen chess threads for every tourney also seems silly.

I am not sure if sacrificing 2 units (knight and bishop) + 2 pawns for queen is good enough in the long term.
Fine line to something great is a strange change.

Depends of the position (like sex).
ESOC : came for the game, stayed for the drama.

How about a new chess tourney for 2022, top 8/16 players with more than 10 games on chess.com. Players chime in $5-$10 each for a prize pool of $40/$80 - $80/$160 + donations if any. Thoughts?
Winner 45%, 2nd 30% 3rd,4th 12.5% each

that is fine by me ! I will more than happily play this always up for some chess (https://www.chess.com/member/gailliegue_florian)

Btw life (kids, work and stuff) kept me away from the game for the last 4 years now. But I'm glad to see it is still alive. Just a small question why are "new" civs (Hausa, Ethiopians, Mexico, Italians, Maltese) not represented at all in the recent matches ? Are they too OP thus banned or too weak thus non played ?

That's some necromancy !

New civs were not allowed because many old players don't really enjoy/ can't be bothered to play the new civs.

Never dead, just further than I wanted too. I remember vividly my golden days of poorly playing this game ;) Still follows ESOC stream every now and then when I am waiting for the baby to fall asleep !
