Just played a comp game of cs for the first time in 6 months, low gold nova lobby and I rage quit after 6 rounds cause I was so shite. Pretty sure playing like 100 games of valorant fucked me over.

Make sure to play at least once every 4 weeks so your rank doesn't expire. It's a hassle to get back again.
Even if you play mostly FaceIt or ESEA, having a higher MM rank always makes you look more baller.

I went from lem to mg2 from not playing for 4 months if you're global I think you always go to lem though

Of course. But if you were inactive for too long.. you lose like 2-8 ranks easily.
Having your rank expired by a couple of days does nothing to your rank when you win it back after that one game win. There is an internal timer and as time goes by without playing, you lose a lot more of your skill group.

I once didn't play Wingman for more than a year and I went back down to Silver 2 (!) when playing again... it was a big hassle to get to the LE rank again, tons of games and sweats

My last streak of non activity I went from mg1 to gn1. Pretty sure riots right tho theres a cap on how low you can go, they wont put someone who was global lower than le I think

I don't know if there is any lower ceiling cap, I hope there is, like you guys say.
Imo the deranking due to inactivity is too harsh. Those people keep landing in lower-ranked games and dominate, even after a long hiatus. Couple that with all the smurfs and cheaters in the game and you get one hell of an experience.
