no jk among leftists it basically refers to anarchism, but nerds who want to build communes use it to differentiate themselves from the "mean" anarchists who do black blocs
the original use of the word libertarian basically refered to anarchists and socialists in France, and the way American libertarians use the word is actually the aberration, globally. US libertarians took the word and used it to just mean someone who is pro-capitalist but also likes smoking weed and doesn't want to live next door to black people
in this test I think it just means you are left economically but you also don't support a massive state

Re: Poitical Compass Test and Political Typology Quiz
An author i can recommend on ideological division in the US is George Lakoff or Matthew Levendusky, the former also has a good chapter in his book don't think of an elephant giving a figurative example for authoritarianism. The former is obviously more politically left though, but he does not try to conceal that.
Also i was able to literally be hitler. / i tried to stay neutral economically while getting as high a score as possible culturally.
I think they use the religious questions as indictors for authoritarianism (as in do you believe in some higher power that guides you), whic corresponds with the original theory by the frankfrut school but is frankly stupid nowadays, because it means atheists or only slightly religious people instantly collect lots of cultural libertarianism points lol.
Honestly the name of the axis are stupid in and of themselves, should be called integration and demarcation or culturally conservative vs. culturally progressive, this libertarian vs. authoritarian bullshit does not make any sense.

Re: Poitical Compass Test and Political Typology Quiz
The Frankfurt school (Adorno, Horkheimer etc.) in the 50s created the 'original' theory of the "authoritarian personality" and one of their indicators was that this type of personality would tend to believe in higher powers and and therefore be more likely to be religious due to the inner urge to let others guide you yes. That does not mean they assumed every religious person was authoritarian, far from it - just that authoritrian people are more likely to be fervent followers of some belief.
But in this test they seem to have taken that a bit far, leading to slightly distorted results.

i'm pretty sure this test wasn't made by frankfurt school people, but rather by greasy 2000s libertarian atheistsscarm wrote:The Frankfurt school (Adorno, Horkheimer etc.) in the 50s created the 'original' theory of the "authoritarian personality" and one of their indicators was that this type of personality would tend to believe in higher powers and and therefore be more likely to be religious due to the inner urge to let others guide you yes. Re: Poitical Compass Test and Political Typology Quiz
You don't say.... These dudes are obviously long dead, fact of the matter is that the test is based on the theory of the "authoritarian personality", pioneered by the frankfurt school and developed since. And btw. this is a fact because 1) it is obvious from the question design if you are familiar with the theory and 2) because i did my research and that is the ONE thing they do disclose and acknowledge.
The general idea to measure ideology in a similar manner in a cleavage based grid is also very common. This particular instance might be made by "greasy libertarian atheists", and it is pretty obviously lacking scientific quality, which is evident by fact that there is no disclosure in who created the website or the questionaire....

I think it has overweighted my positions in equality and progress a bit. Still plenty of poor questions in this quiz.

Re: Poitical Compass Test and Political Typology Quiz
@Hawk_Girl at first glance you listen to joe rogan, you told h2o that you think people of different opinions should be allowed to have a discussion, you say that race is a social construct, you say that the left shames people too much and thats why they lose to the far right, and you went to uni. My diagnosis: you are a European center-left liberal which would be called socialist in the US, but because you're in Europe and not America you also don't like some aspects of the PC / cancel culture of American libs/lefties and you maintain the anti-authoritarian and free speech ideas of the old left
@Le Hussard sur le toit you're a PhD in math and you play chess so you have some 4 dimensional 300 iq theory of politics that you argue doesn't fit in anywhere on the political spectrum, but is actually just center-right technocratism
why am i doing this, it is such a waste of time

Only critique: It took a bit too much time, maybe you could trim some questions.

I was surprised by how statist it said I was. I'm guessing this is because I think abortion and euthanasia should be illegal? Idk why else it says that, when my economics are very capatilist.
