Indeed, would probably have to spent the entire January losing what I have gained in 3 days at grandmas place during Christmas lol.

Does anyone work with a week schedule? I'm curious how you schedule your time. I started this week with a schedule for the first time of my life. Hopefully I will be able to keep up with it and I will have better balance.
I have 3x gym and 1x swimming during the week
Morning rituals
Fixed time for eating (preparing food for work)
Meditation 6x per week
1x hiking in the nature with my dog
Sunday I do a breakfast where I can eat what ever I desire and a fixed time with my boyfriend (if we don't see for a couple of days it's something nice to be sure that on this evening we see each other bc we have a super different work/life schedule)
And Saturday is my free day to see frinds and family or play age :hehe:

I had a surgery on my knee and wasn't able to workout for 10 weeks and started this week again. It's terrible for me to go so slow again bc I wasn't prepared in my mind that it might be that my muscles lost so much strength in this time

@QueenOfdestiny sadly that's just the way it is with surgeries. Being familiar with that fate from two knee surgeries as well as other longer no-sports-periods due to injuries, I have to say it's rather amazing how fast the body can bounce back though. Make slow but steady progress towards your "fittest" version while not risking to break out your injury again

Streching and keep doing soft sports like walking.
Crippling is not the limit during the sport. When it's start to stiching then you should definitely stop.
When it starts around 12h after the gym and you at the beginning of the gym you should let this parts rest for at least 48h (or longer when it's pain) when you trained it's 24h rest for this parts.
Its also important what you eat... If you eat healthy (80% healthy 20% shit is the way to go)
You're body will be able to fix the problems faster.
I made a self experiment and during the holidays I ate super shitty and unhealthy. It makes a huge difference for your body and mind

If you're talking about DOMs it just stops happening as your body acclimates.

It's a very bad thing for a novice to push themselves super hard right away for this reason. It can even lead to rhabado which is life threatening (go to hospital if your piss turns brown).

After a couple weeks or so of consistent working out you'll still feel "sore" but the intensity will be much much much lower, and even might be a pleasant reminder that you are building your muscles up.

Should I go to the gym tomorrow despite the pain or take a day off?

Take a day off, but you'll probably hurt just as much. You can also go anyways. Target a different muscle group maybe. Do some warm ups to get the blood flowing and it'll hurt less. You'll be fine.

I tried to keep working out during holidays, but maintaining the diet was the hardest. It was hard to track everything and the peer pressure was too much. You can do small exercises that put little or zero strain on your injury. Focus on other parts of your body. Being in touch with even minimal activity helps with keeping up with the routine and it's easier to get back to tougher workouts.

Indeed you can totally feel the difference when your exercising and eating routine is more lax.
