I am renewing my subscription tomorrow in the gym, fingers crossed they will stay open the upcoming months. Two weeks now I'm slowly getting into it and I'm recovering from stiffness and soreness

Deep fat fried foods are novelty items at fairs. Fairs have spectacular advertising. Well, everything is Spectacle, but silly to extrapolate an image. Feeding spectacle with error only fuels it.

I started biking to my work. It's 15 km, which is about 45-60 minutes on a city bike. It seems to increase my stamina, which is nice for my football matches.
Re: ESOC Fitness Thread
Unfortunately, I can go only 3 times per week to the gym. Jobs take a lot of time apparently.

Training once per week and one match per week. I've finally reached the point where a ~75 minute match is not uncomfortable and playing the full 90 minutes is bearable.BrookG wrote:How often you do play?RefluxSemantic wrote:I started biking to my work. I did 442 km on my bike past month. Biking to work is a really efficient way to get a 'workout' baked into your week.

The cold is no big deal. Actually I don't know how other people can really be bothered by it, usually I need to open my coat during the ride and change t-shirts when I arrive at work because I've been sweating so much. The rain is annoying, so I check buienradar for the rain. If it's anything more than a light drizzle I go by train instead.XeeleeFlower wrote:How are you doing this when it's cold and rainy? 1.) The cold is a big deal, I don't like being coldRefluxSemantic wrote:The cold is no big deal. 2.) Being incapable of understanding how other people could be affected by something differently than you is cringe
3.) I don't want to arrive at work sweating either
4.) I don't have a train I can take to get to work

Re: ESOC Fitness Thread
I really find the cold particularly annoying in the morning tbh. I wouldn't mind walking to work if it wasn't so early

I never understood the will of the Dutch to ride a bike. Dutch people are sarcastically born with a bike in hands and feet.

My core stays warm. It's my face, hands, legs, ears, and feet that get cold. I wear super long socks, jeans, a hat, but doesn't help. The ear thing is the worst because I end up with a headache.RefluxSemantic wrote:The cold is no big deal. There's actually ear warmers you can wear. Cold is much less annoying than rain.

I do wear warm gloves, because my hands get cold too. I also listen to podcasts on my headphones, which serve as ear warmers. I also tend to bike pretty fast (as fast as I can manage) which heats up the body. But the latter two 'tricks' might be difficult for someone that isnt as comfortable on a bike.XeeleeFlower wrote:My core stays warm. It's my face, hands, legs, ears, and feet that get cold. Re: ESOC Fitness Thread
For me its multiple reasons:BrookG wrote:I never understood the will of the Dutch to ride a bike. Dutch people are sarcastically born with a bike in hands and feet.
1. Its faster than public transit
2. It gives me more freedom (not bound to train schedules)
3. Its an extra workout
4. I dont own a car and a car is super expensive to own anyways
