I thought only IV required that. Well, Microshit can officially fuck off now @Ashvin.

While we're bumping this thread, let's see some interesting comments from an ex-ES FE dev who worked on DE.
Summary of the good stuff:

sulphuric99 wrote:I worked on Age DE, on multiplayer, pathing/movement, some of the graphics (like the water, AA, bloom), performance optimization, and out of syncs. The product had a lot of unexpected birthing pains and was several months late. The project was a lot more complex than anyone thought. I believe FE would love to keep updating the game, but unless the work gets funded nothing can really happen.
sulphuric99 wrote:AFAIK, nobody's working on this product at the moment. That's why the chat bug (which is probably like <1 day of work) still remains unfixed.
Note: the bug is that the game just freezes every time you attempt to chat, affects all players.
sulphuric99 wrote:I really don't believe it was a cash grab. I suspect MS has lost money on DE. I think they intended to reinvent the franchise and Age DE was seen (at first) as a quick and easy way to do that. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a lot harder and more complex than anyone expected.

It's pretty obvious that damage is being done to the franchise here by MS not maintaining DE.

In other words, the current recipe for an Age game remaster is to first hugely underestimate the work needed, then proceed to cut all funds and end support once the game is in a somewhat releasable state. It would appear to me this casts a rather dark future for both AoE2 and AoE3.

This is hardly news at all, given reality for many years now.

Indeed, I guess take this as a reminder that things are still the same as ever.
