I eagerly await your alternative take. And wait patiently by my wooden table with my mosquito lantern on.

I am so sorry for what you are going through. Often, a pet is the only creature that truly sees one as they are. We often grant privileges to our pets that we do not with humans. They see us at our worst, not just our best. The ultimate companion - ever loving and ever trusting. I've lost 3 wonderful dogs throughout my life and each time my heart felt as though it was being ripped from my chest. Enjoy the time that you have left with him. Do not prolong his pain to put off your own. Take pictures, frame them, and put them in key areas of your house. After he passes, put together a slideshow or scrapbook to be able to look back with joy at the moments you shared. Feel the sorrow, but don't let yourself drown in it. Hugs to you, my friend.
Time is wise and our wounds seem to heal to the rhythm of aging,
But our past is a ghost fading out that at night itā€™s still haunting.

My younger brother passed away in 2012. That is real pain to go through, dogs are animals at the end of the day, nothing less nothing more.

Im very sorry for you to experience this at such a young age, but this thread is not supposed to be a contest of who has endured the most/gravest pain in his life.
Animals can be a big part of your family and, also, you can have a strong emotional bond to an animal.

I didn't mention anything about what is more painful. I don't have to. If you seriously can try compare losing a dog to losing a brother or a sister, you must have half a brain, I'm sorry.

No, I didn't mention anything about in my previous post. But your comment realised that maybe I should.

When you take a dog, especially of such a breed, you sign up for having to say goodbye after a few years. Brothers are supposed to last a lifetime. There's a bit of a huge difference: Spanky accepted that she would eventually feel sad about something and sir_musket had something terrible happen to him by sheer bad luck.

Which is to be expected if the thread is not much more than someone asking random people to tell her how sorry they feel for her.

In the end dogs are pretty replacable aren't they? Your new dog will be sorta different but not by much, it'll still be a dog that does all the dog things that people like about dogs.
