What do you do on long drives?

Post by Warno »

I have to drive about 12 hours solo in the next couple of days and thinking of things to keep me entertained.

Any good podcasts to listen to? Any new albums? Anyone planning on streaming with mic?

Mostly preoccupy myself with thoughts of how bad my back hurts and how to try to not fall asleep. Hour 10 of 25 btw.

Thanks for the links, I appreciate it!

Going to give a quick listen to each and see what I like... I think I will really enjoy that Kiasmos album.

I like to listen to audio books - there are many free on youtube. When I listen I can really drive 8 hours np with only bathroom breaks.

Also some Joe Rogan podcasts, my favorite is Sean Carroll but that may be just cause I love Sean Carroll.
last time i cryed was because i stood on Lego

Active driving at 200 km/hr, nothing more thrilling than zooming past slow cars and appreciating how fast your car is. Wruumm wrumm zòooooooooom
Fine line to something great is a strange change.

Audiobooks. A lot of books are around that length actually. I recently read (listened to) Comey's book "A higher loyalty", it's very good. Would recommend if you're interested in politics and/or law and/or Comey himself. I think it was about 10 hours.

I also listened to large parts of A Song of Ice and Fire while driving. Never too late to start reading that, unless you can't deal with the fact that GRRM will probably die before finishing it.

Having done several 20+ hour drives in the last 2 months and over the years, I would have to agree with GS that audiobooks are a great way to pass the time.

Honestly being a petrolhead, I like to listen to my engine noise. To me, it's much better than anybody's podcast or any music or any audiobook.

PS: I have done about half a dozen 12+ hour drives in last 12 months.

Thanks for all the suggestions. First leg of the drive is done.

@Cometk some of those albums were a little too strange for me! I like the Kiasmos one a lot tho.
