Has anyone ever been to an esports event?
So I have tickets this sunday to see the CSGO eleague premier final, which is likely going to be Astralis vs Navi, the number 1 and number 2 ranked teams in the world. However, someone associated with the event recently made this post on reddit. Basically what he said is they only have room for 200 people and way more people than that claimed tickets (tickets were free). The event starts at 2, and its a two hour drive for me. He said that anyone who wants to get in will have to show up early, but he has no idea how early. So I'm just wondering if its gonna be worth it. Traffic in Atlanta is terrible, I'll have to get up early, and theres a decent chance I drive all that way and don't get in and can't watch it at all. Even if I do get in, would it really be that cool vs just watching it at home? Right now I'm honestly kind of leaning towards not going. I've been to many different live sporting events, and they are only ever worth it if they have a good atmosphere. Never having attended an esports event before, I don't really know what it will be like. thoughtsh?

Normally I would recommend going because it could be fun, definitely more fun than watching at home, but the chance of driving all the way there and not getting in is simply not worth it. I would recommend just getting drunk on Bombay Sapphire East Gin and watching from the comfort of your home.

You know CoD has an event in Seattle I'd like to go to if the average age wasn't 15.

I aint gonna respond to your wall of text, but respond to the thread title.
Yes, I was at the homestory cup last year. It's pretty much a starcraft2 lan party between pros, but viewers can chill at the same area and talk to pros.

Did you have a friend that came with you? Or did you go alone?

Go to Atlanta if it's only a 2-hour drive.

I was at ESL One: Cologne 2014 when they just played the semi finals and finals in a room with like 200 seats at gamescom.
I needed to wait like 2 hours just to get into the room. Once I had a seat I couldn't move for like 6-7 hours straight, else I would've lost it. After that I was literally walking next to pros like rain, scream, hiko and olof. Too bad my phone ran out of battery.
But looks like ELEAGUE fucked up lol.

I went with a friend, but there are many nice social guys there. It shouldnt be a problem to go alone.
