In The Netherlands you need an income of at least 1150 euro/month for most credit cards. How does that work in America? Do they take your income or money on your bank into account, of just your credit score?

Depends on the type of card. People generally start with student cards, and for that they don't actually even check your income level. You can pretty much just put whatever you want into it and it approves you, although your monthly credit limit is not very high.

Most German people just really - and I mean really hate debt or owing someone something in general so that credit card craze won't even kick off

I'm talking of things made by things like "Cofinoga" for the "Galerie Lafayettes" shops.
But where i'm certainly confusing is with the exact translation of "credit" card.
