I happen to have forgotten to transfer my screenshot folders when I moved to a new PC. Nonetheless I still have access to my steam library and just randomly picked two screenshots. Both runs were extremely casual while there were other things being a pain in the neck irl (also a good way to relieve the "pain").

did you actually finish world conquest?

i never finished a WC because i lose interest at 1650 to 1700. Infact ive never finished a whole campaign. But i had a few runs that easily could have been wc.

all territories in the Portugal shade of green is of course mine, I have downloaded the Theatrum Orbis Terrarum mod, though, which changes the map and shows the ones covered in snow, hence the provinces in the north that are light-green; naturally there are colonies in Americas, and Ottomans remain independent from me

How do you do that? Don't you get humongous agressive expansion? Do you just beat the coalitions?

Well, first of all, compare the generals, then take into account that it was a battle in an inland sea, which isn't really shown, and of course bear in mind both nations' ideas. I thought that these disadvantages notwithstanding I'd be able to steamroll as I did the entire game by having the sheer numbers advantage, but unfortunately threedeckers didn't turn out to be of any use and I lost. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

How do you do that? Don't you get humongous agressive expansion? Do you just beat the coalitions?

You have less than 400 years for your aggressiveness to cool down...
It's just the matter of spreading the expansion — the emperor and his puppets don't really care if you conquer 5 or 15 provinces from Kongo Moreover, a rocket-science discovery for me — colonisation is a very efficient tool to obtaining more provinces, which directly translates into development, and as Portugal your abilities to conquer the world in such a fashion is second to none. Besides, I had the Influence ideas, though took it only for the 4th slot.
I managed not to have any punitive wars, though at one point I had a defensive coalition, including some Southeastern Asian countries. I succeeded in working around it without too much hassle. And I had a truly-imperialist France as my ally. Still, though, more could have been done :p

I bet that naval went so poorly because pezet dint up his ships. That ship ratio should have won regardless of generals and naval ideas
