Northern Europe Sights and Places (NOR, SWE, DEN)
Northern Europe Sights and Places (NOR, SWE, DEN)
Hello lovely Esocks!
I'm currently in the planning phase of a Northern Europe trip for January, encompassing Norway, Sweden and Denmark (Finland will already be done by then). However, I'm not really sure which places to visit - and that's where I'd like you to come in! My starting point would be Vilnius (LT) and, going by simple logic, I'd be starting off by flying to a northern Norwegian city (if it's reasonable, first search suggests rather flying to oslo and from there up north), making my way down from there.
So, my question to all of you Norwegians, Swedes and Danes would be:
Which places should I definitely not miss out on?
Anything is welcome, I don't have preferences like certain cities but I'll probably try to incorporate the capitals as a vague route nevertheless
Of course, and that goes without saying, I'd highly appreciate it if some of you would be up to show me around their City/county or even hosting me for one or two days
Thanks a lot in advance!

If you're coming here in December, don't miss out on the Copenhagen amusement park (Tivoli)! I've been there two Decembers in a row now, and I absolutely love it. The whole park is Christmas-themed (dank beverages, classical music, and perhaps even fake snow) and the booze is incredibly cheap (perhaps not compared to Deutschland, but certainly compared to every single bar and restaurant outside of the park—around half the price I'd say).
Other than that, enjoy your stay in the Nordic caliphate!

Another option could be to fly to Copenhagen and take the ferry to Oslo. The arrival into Oslo is very picturesque. On weekdays is it fairly cheap, or at least used to be. It depart from CPH at 17:00 and arrive in Oslo the next morning at around 09:00. Recommended.
As Gendarme mentioned, Tivoli is a nice place to spend an afternoon/evening. While in Copenhagen, don't forget to visit "Christiania" HIGHly recommended.
Further north you will find Kronborg castle (home of Hamlet!) Or just watch a video about it on YouTube and be done with it.
After a day of sightseeing you should enjoy a pint of Carlsberg in my old hood (Hvidovre) at Center Pubben, owned by Daniel Agger.

Lmao. We went to Christiania a few months ago. Two of the guys got absolutely rekt by the alcohol and weed combo that we had to AFK there for 3 hours before they were ready to walk back to the train station. The weed is pretty cheap though, and apparently of pretty high quality.

Kek.
I took my Chinese assistant there 2-3 years ago, she also went AFK for a couple of hours, and I even told the seller to give me the worst of the worst quality he had.
The original spirit is completely gone though and now most of the people living there have regular jobs and they even pay tax!
Still makes for a nice afternoon though, and right in the center of Copenhagen.

@Snuden Thanks a lot, starting in Copenhagen is actually a good Idea and pairs better with my route afterwards. I will probably do Copenhagen-Malmö-Göteborg-Stockholm-Oslo-Bergen though

holey cow bring some really warm clothes if you plan to go far north of Norway in January. Tbh, I have not been more north than Tronheim myself. I hear that Tromsø is a very nice northern city. Will visit sometime, but January is far to cold for me But then again, you will have a good chance of seeing some northern lights. One thing to be aware of is that there will be no sunlight this far north in January Trondheim is also a nice city, right in the middle of Norway.

You could also visit Svalbard, you can catch a plane from Oslo or Tromsø. Will not get any colder or darker than that in January

Yea, January is probably the worst month to visit Scandinavia.

That's something I can casually do on another trip - already got ideas for Poland and Czech Rep (without Prague), I might get back to you there
This one is a rather big one I had in mind for a long time- and now is that time when I've got enough time and motivation on my hands
