No, but because a small % people are rioting and looting, that doesn't justify sending in the US military to quell the protests.

Does looting and vandalism take place at the same areas where the protests are? How does protesting work in the US?

Maybe it helps to describe what I know of protests in Germany. Here, you have to announce protests beforehand and in like 99% of times cities approve it, even neonazi protests, due to our constitution. The necessity of announcing it, however, means that protests need to be organized, including the areas where protests are going to take place (usually, protests move slowly along a large street or happen at big squares). The protests are then secured by police to prevent looting and vandalism.



edit: the necessity of organization and deciding on the location of protests also means that usually everything is quite peaceful as soon as you are like 100 meters away in some side street.

It is similar here. Most decent police will assist in keeping the protests safe in terms of keeping the area safe and protecting the protesters themselves (blocking =traffic, etc...).

isn't that kinda the point of the national guard? to assist in cases of emergency like for example if police has not the capacity to keep up the law
idk why ppl just accept riots as part of protest. how is it acceptable if innocent ppl in these areas r assaulted or their businesses burned down? what kind of selective law enforcement that supposed to be....
