The national guard isn’t the US military that is being threatenedknusch wrote:isn't that kinda the point of the national guard? to assist in cases of emergency like for example if police has not the capacity to keep up the lawn0el wrote:If an effect of the protests is 1% are looting, it doesn’t justify sending in the US military on domestic soil.
idk why ppl just accept riots as part of protest. how is it acceptable if innocent ppl in these areas r assaulted or their businesses burned down? what kind of selective law enforcement that supposed to be....

And? Does that honestly justify deploying the US military into our cities? How would you feel if there’s a marine convoy rolling down your block.kaister wrote:@n0el local/state officials haven't gotten the cities under control for over a week now, there has been over $55 million in damages in Minnesota alone. Think we might be getting to the point where its justified

There is no chance in hell that Trump can call the military to kill their own citizens. This is not an ISSUE, and Trump is not a dictator (even if he would like to be).

SourceTrump was then asked if he meant "firm hand as in China."
"When the students poured into Tiananmen Square, the Chinese government almost blew it. Then they were vicious, they were horrible, but they put it down with strength," Trump replied. "That shows you the power of strength. Our country is right now perceived as weak...as being spit on by the rest of the world."
On June 4, 1989, after several weeks of pro-democracy and pro-reform demonstrations, Chinese troops entered Tiananmen Square in Beijing and fired on unarmed people. Hundreds, possibly thousands, were killed.

That isn't what they are advocating for though. Trump wants to send in the US military, as in Army, Marine Corps.knusch wrote:from my understanding the national guard is part of the us military, tho in general under control by statesn0el wrote:The national guard isn’t the US military that is being threatenedShow hidden quotes

Re: 2020 US Elections
Why? I am not rioting or looting or doing anything wrong. Military is there to protect people and private property from few opportunistic people or group doing the harm. Why would I be scared of the army? If anything given the circumstances I would be pretty comfortable or safe if army shows up as police seem to be incompetent at the moment.n0el wrote:Over my dead bodyprinceofcarthage wrote:Pretty safeShow hidden quotes

I got that, I want to understand is why you won't feel safe if the army which is sworn to protect anything American, which is paid by you were to show up at your doorstep for your own protection?

should not be triggered by ppl who do not know shit @n0el
Sending in the military, is fighting your own citizens, and that can only happen in a dictatorship. I am sure you are not there yet, but give Trump another 4 years, you might be.

Re: 2020 US Elections
Who do they protect when everyone is American? We pay police to protect us, they protect one interest and not everyone. Don't you see that the military is just a worse version of that? At least police are responsible to a local level, whereas the military is not.princeofcarthage wrote:I got that, I want to understand is why you won't feel safe if the army which is sworn to protect anything American, which is paid by you were to show up at your doorstep for your own protection?

Well, the military at least has some semblance of accountability. But the president can't be allowed to wield the military in that wayn0el wrote:Who do they protect when everyone is American?
