If an effect of the protests is 1% are looting, it doesn’t justify sending in the US military on domestic soil.

isn't that kinda the point of the national guard? to assist in cases of emergency like for example if police has not the capacity to keep up the law
idk why ppl just accept riots as part of protest. how is it acceptable if innocent ppl in these areas r assaulted or their businesses burned down? what kind of selective law enforcement that supposed to be....

from my understanding the national guard is part of the us military, tho in general under control by states

Why? I am not rioting or looting or doing anything wrong. Military is there to protect people and private property from few opportunistic people or group doing the harm. Why would I be scared of the army? If anything given the circumstances I would be pretty comfortable or safe if army shows up as police seem to be incompetent at the moment.

Who do they protect when everyone is American? We pay police to protect us, they protect one interest and not everyone. Don't you see that the military is just a worse version of that? At least police are responsible to a local level, whereas the military is not.

Well, the military at least has some semblance of accountability. But the president can't be allowed to wield the military in that way
