"Occupy". Only taliban thinks US occupied Afghanistan. Majority of the people were grateful for the American presence which gave them stability, security, growth, freedom, opportunities and more. Regardless of whether you want US to leave or not, use the words carefully. I for one do want India to send boots on grounds. But that will just escalate into a bigger conflict involving Pakistan and China. Best thing is for US/Nato to stay.fightinfrenchman wrote:I strongly encourage you to lobby the leaders of your own country to permanently occupy Afghanistan if that's what you want. What do you mean by permanently? We have troops for decades in Germany, Korea, Japan.fightinfrenchman wrote:Well people in the US don't want to stay, so we're leavingprinceofcarthage wrote:"Occupy". Suppose that with some number of troops "permanently" in a country in a support role, taking no casualties, we can guarantee basic rights for women and prevent terrorists coming to power. How many troops is this worth to you? Whether people in the US want to stay depends on the poll question asked.

If US troops left Germany, Korea, or Japan, how long do you think it would take before those countries would be taken over by terrorist organizationsMisha wrote:What do you mean by permanently? Korea could fall within weeks. Japan will get bullied by China and would have no answer to them. Troops in Germany are for nuclear installations and for general European security. Without US presence it could further embolden Russia.fightinfrenchman wrote:If US troops left Germany, Korea, or Japan, how long do you think it would take before those countries would be taken over by terrorist organizationsMisha wrote:What do you mean by permanently? This is the kind of revisionist American history which world needs to stop. There is not a single mention of Russia which also had significant presence and share in defeat of ISIS. At time when US was doing 1-2 strikes weekly, Russia was carrying out dozens on daily basis. Not a single mention.

The eviction moratorium has been lifted. Interested to hear everyone's thoughts and opinions. Personally it seems to be the right decision for a few reasons. To me the decision does highlight a problem within the court, that it was willing to not tear down the moratorium on it's first visit to the court. If it's unconstitutional now, it was unconstitutional before. Although initially keeping it in place might have been a "good" (read: moral) decision, it should have been the responsibility of congress to act.

Correct decision. People always think oh he is a landlord he must be rich, nothing happens if we don't give rent for 2 months. But that's not always the case. Many landlords are dependant on rental income.

Well, they should have developed some kind of skill, instead of leaching off people that create actual economic valueprinceofcarthage wrote:Many landlords are dependant on rental income.

That is not leaching. And rental properties create economic value. Its also a business. So.Dolan wrote:Well, they should have developed some kind of skill, instead of leaching off people that create actual economic valueprinceofcarthage wrote:Many landlords are dependant on rental income.

If it's a private landlord with a few extra homes or whatever, then idk. Working for money is tiring if you aren't in an air conditioned office. I wouldn't blame people for looking for ways to make their capital work for them.Dolan wrote:Well, they should have developed some kind of skill, instead of leaching off people that create actual economic valueprinceofcarthage wrote:Many landlords are dependant on rental income.
If it's a corporation that's buying homes for twice the market price and keeping homeowners from buying a house, then that's a problem. But that's on lawmakers who let the situation get that bad with a deregulated market.
