There was a historian in Romania who said he saw things headed towards a new medieval age.scarm wrote: ↑03 Jul 2022, 15:49Current events (as in the last ... 6 years at least) in the US are scarier than i am letting myself realize. The US democracy is going to shit and might be on the brink to collapse sooner rather than later. Enter Russia, China, antisemitism running rampant... Not to be a doomsayer but i wouldn't be surprised if the most peaceful years of my life were over.
Personally I kinda oscillate between a new neolithic and a new medieval age with electronics.
Another scenario that seems to fire up the imagination of certain circles, I've heard it explicitly articulated by someone from CalTech: the species splitting along lines of separate interests, calculated nerds forking humanity into a separate branch and leaving the rest behind in a less advanced, more boisterous "legacy humanity" sort of branch. And forming separate societies based on radically different polarisations of personality traits.

Re: US Politics Megathread
The internet was a mistake. A lot of arguments that used to be made by knowledgeable people are starting to trickle down to brainlets who only get "the gist of it", the cartoonish version of a complicated reality.
I keep seeing this argument that the US bombs countries because they don't use dollars, which is beyond retarded. There are both pros and cons to having your currency as the world's reserve currency. There aren't only pros!
You have to run a huge trade deficit with the world to keep them supplied with dollars. This is to your disadvantage! It's bad. It's basically not good.

If US bombs a country for not using dollars, I don't think you can justify it in any way regardless of the pros and cons of using dollars to USDolan wrote: ↑04 Jul 2022, 09:56The internet was a mistake. Did you know world leaders are not really enemies, they just pretend to be so, to keep their jobs. But behind the scenes, they're all working on the same plan.princeofcarthage wrote: ↑04 Jul 2022, 14:49If US bombs a country for not using dollars, I don't think you can justify it in any way regardless of the pros and cons of using dollars to USDolan wrote: ↑04 Jul 2022, 09:56The internet was a mistake. Apparently this has been going on for many years. When Putin came to the USA on a state visit, Bush W and him wore Masonic aprons:
Also when Xi Jinping came to power in China, he had a meeting with the former president of the EU commission, where he did the Masonic handshake:
I believe that because the internet says so and there are JPEGs to prove it.
You probably found out about the USA bombing countries because they don't use dollars in the same way.

Yeah I clarified it was a meme, it is you who took it seriously and tried to justify the said hypothetical bombing lmao

are the main contributing factors here wealth and medical advance, or perhaps just reducing alcoholism

Re: US Politics Megathread
I knew Spain and Italy are more capitalistic than the UK tbh
Cuba looking competitive too vs the USA.
On a more serious note tho, the rise in life expectancy in Eastern Europe probably reflects joining the EU and investing more in the health system.
Which owes it to capitalism too, but not only. I mean look at the USA, they have the best healthcare tech in the world, labs, research, unis, and they're 46th in life expectancy.
Maybe too much capitalism and consooming clogging the arteries with fat.
Re: US Politics Megathread
there's been a general trend of increasing lifespan throughout the whole world, whether the country was capitalist or not.
some countries probably pushed the trend up faster than others, for reasons.

Need a new mouse, my current one is starting to double its clicks.
@Horsemen
No need to deflect from the fact that the UK somehow lags behind Italy and Spain on lifespan, tho

Re: US Politics Megathread
You should not count life in years but in moments that you have lived.

I have a theory that people who live very long lives keep living in the hope they'll get their moment at some momentprinceofcarthage wrote: ↑05 Jul 2022, 14:44You should not count life in years but in moments that you have lived.
