You don't sayDolan wrote: β29 Mar 2023, 08:15There are lots of posters on the internet who associate the pro-Ukraine stance with liberals with pro-trans views etc, but a front page like that really shows that it's not that simple.
There are pro-lgbt conservatives who are against US supporting Ukraine and anti-lgbt conservatives who are pro Ukraine.
The US really has its own peculiar political culture that doesn't compare with any other from elsewhere.

Surprised that no one mentioned the firing of Carlson here. It's fairly big news.

Biden is running again, for his 2. term. 70% of dems do not want him to run.
Trump is running again - with 70 approval rates among GOP voters.

Yes it is big news, but I guess he had his run, and nobody cares or loves him for it.
Watch out for him, if he desires to run for potus 2024 though.

Yeah, it's some kind of canary in the coalmine when the political scene can't produce new leaders and the next round of elections is the same microwaved leftovers from the last time, two gramps pushing their 80s.

Media and Bidens team seem to think he do not have to speak, not meet the press, not take any debate. They seem to think there is nobody running against him. That is false though, but as long as media shut up about the topic, it all becomes true. Another sad day in Democratic USA.fightinfrenchman wrote: β27 Apr 2023, 02:39Which one do you think is more likely to winspanky4ever wrote: β26 Apr 2023, 22:40Biden is running again, for his 2. term. 70% of dems do not want him to run.

At least we know that Trump will have competition.
Who will win? I hope Trump do not win, and that!, is prolly the best card Biden has on hand. I think most leaning Dem think the same
I am not sure if he will gain enough momentum though, by sitting in his ibery tower/White house, and saying next to nothing??

Most muricans cannot name it. Is that because it is very little, or because media do not speak about it - and Dems have problems getting it trough to the ppl?

As far as I know, there are a few choice items of things that haven't been tackled that look very bad. e.g. ICE concentration camps

I know it is not common to run against an incumbent potus, but then again, He (Biden) is very old, and it looks like his health is decaying- you could maybe say that the challengers to Biden are in reality the challengers to Carmela Harris.

I can c that, tbh. Nobody can challenge an incumbent potus. But do you also acknowlegde that Carmela Harris is a loose cannon? There is a good chance that she will be president if Biden wins 2024fightinfrenchman wrote: β04 May 2023, 20:11They aren't real candidatesspanky4ever wrote: β04 May 2023, 17:59RF Kennedy Jr. and Marianne Williamson. But did Joe heal America's sovl tho
Re: US Politics Megathread
I also notice a lack of discussion regarding the blatant, outright and public corruption of the Supreme Court.
Re: US Politics Megathread
The Dems I think avoid stirring up that subject because at some point during the repealing of Wade v Roe it looked like there was a growing chorus of voices asking whether courts should simply stop following Scotus rulings.
And that could snowball into other things like a full-blown constitutional crisis. I think they decided the risks are not worth it and they now just do damage control (by adopting federal laws to prevent state laws from rolling back 'progress') and avoid openly attacking the institution.

Re: US Politics Megathread
Yeah I think that's a pretty sound argument. To be fair, there is a lot merit to have federal laws to protect rights rather than 9 unelected people just deciding for the whole country lol
