Proud of our Republicans today. Stood up to the blackmail. Took the political risk for what is right. No more money un accounted for the agenda of the democrats pet projects. If they cared about the people would have dropped it and got her done. Thank you Republicans I love winning for the right reasons.

It wasn’t actually out of context. He was talking about the administrations failure on covid and then said that about schools, then went back to saying we need money for states, Etc.....fightinfrenchman wrote:As a general rule you shouldn't get angry about 10 second clips taken out of contextn0el wrote:I first saw it on Twitter from NYT, so I just googled it and that was the first result. Democrats passed a bill doing that until September of next year, and it also cancels thousands of dollars of debt.n0el wrote:What’s your issue with that?

Democrats are actually holding their position and not compromising. Why is this bad, it's what you people claim they should do all the time

I need to find serenity.
Re: 2020 US Elections
Looks like your most venerable Lord Trump became jealous after seeing Macron walking through the ruins of Beirut, shaking hands with and consoling victims, and generally behaving like a proper leader. After his visit, there were even petitions asking for Lebanon to be put under French administration for ten years. That sounds like exactly what Trump would love for himself.
Whatever is written above: this is no financial advice.

Trump almost certainly didn't see that and if he did he didn't care. That kind of stuff doesn't register in his brainduckzilla wrote:Looks like your most venerable Lord Trump became jealous after seeing Macron walking through the ruins of Beirut, shaking hands with and consoling victims, and generally behaving like a proper leader. Re: 2020 US Elections
Do I have to state the obvious and say that Macron saw a business opportunity for French construction firms to get some nice contracts for rebuilding the Beirut port?
Even if the funding is also secured by France (and others), it's basically state contracts for French firms that keep French jobs funded and promote their influence in the Middle East. It's a nicer form of colonialism.
Macron made it clear they won't simply give Lebanon money, for fear that local power brokers would just funnel it all away. So, I think they will go for contracts for reconstruction awarded to French firms, that will be funded by the French state.
On top of it, you can also parade in the media as a saviour and international leader.

People in Lebanon also seem to be asking him not to give money to their government since it's so corrupt and their incompetence caused the disaster to begin withDolan wrote: Macron made it clear they won't simply give Lebanon money, for fear that local power brokers would just funnel it all away.

Re: 2020 US Elections
Yeah and he's more than happy not to do it, lol, since that means the French state can give the money to French companies and ask the Lebanese government to accept this arrangement in exchange for France supporting the costs.
It all becomes just a question of national French politics, they're funding their own companies with state money and scoring PR points on the international stage for it.
It's just business-as-usual politics.
