I often feel alone in that I just can't get into Pink Floyd. I've tried them sober, after smoking some weed, after taking mdma, after trying lsd, and after eating some shrooms. Just not my cup of tea. The music is great. I'm really into that aspect, I'm sure the lyrics are just as good, if I could pay attention to them. The vocals, oh god, the vocals, just do not sit well with me for some reason and they just overshadow any of the positive feelings that I may have begun to develop.

Pink Floyd is in a weird place because they have better standalone lyrics than nearly all the music I listen to, but I just don't enjoy them that much. The intuitive reaction to song is much more important than the critical eye.

They're not the only ones who had a terriblel singer. Other bands with great music but terrible vocalists:

Led Zeppelin
Tame Impala
Massive Attack (their only songs that have great vocals have been made with guest singers)
Primal Scream
Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros

John Lennon was also a mediocre singer.

How does pink floyd have terrible singers? Both david gilmour and roger waters sing well, and they have very different kind of voices and they abuse that really well in their songs. I can understand that waters' voice is a bit peculiar, but that's why it's good in opposition to gilmour's smooth and soft voice.

Also how does led zeppelin have a bad singer? His voice is a bit too high pitched for my taste, and it's definitely not a very standard kind of voice, but objectively robert plant knows how to sing and can do impressive vocal performances.

I've never minded either Waters' or Gilmour's vocals. Don't agree about Led Zeppelin vocals being bad either. All seems very subjective

Pink Floyd - one of my all-time favourites. I'm not familiar with all of the records, but really like Dark Side of the moon, Wish you where here, and The Wall.
In Dark side of the moon, they are just decades before their contemporaries, and the same can be said for Wish you were here.
