Life on planet earth is not only about you.

Staples would secure everyone's survival needs at a certain baseline. So you'd only need to work if you really wanted something more in life than just surviving.
Which would also make it quite likely that you'd only pick a job that you'd really enjoy, since you wouldn't really risk much if you lost your job.

Maybe we can build a Dyson sphere around our own sun first, then we can think about leaving our solar system for the purpose of exploration, however I believe it is almost certain that we would encounter an alien form of life sooner or later.
