I think you can recover a post, at least on some kinds of forum software.

What is this advanced Romanian forum software you speak of?

Even Proboards had a post recovery feature. And Proboards was really bad. I thought this phpBB3 would have at least something equally good.

You really have an obsession with Romania. You should join Prince Charles' club, he's a big fan, he even bought a couple of rustic houses here: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... acula.html

And you'd be wrong. phpBB doesn't save edit history.
Afaik the only way to recover it would be to spin up a new db server and restore the entire db there from an earlier state, then dive into the posts table and pick it out by hand. :hmm:

After delete, maybe, but recover after edit? That means you would have to save every edit to every post in the db, probably meaning you would save the entire pre-edited post on every edit. That sounds like something you don't want. Does proboards really have that feature?

Oh, I thought he deleted the post. Yeah Proboards had post recovery too.

But why do non-mods have edit perms?

Erm, but that sort of perms could be limited to specific forums.. Why should they be universal.

Limiting them to specific forums might prevent accidents like this.

new forums are constantly created, threads are moved from forum to forum for better visibility (for example some threads are posted to the general forum before being moved to a tournament section)

managing selective perms would be an obstacle

Can't there be edit perms for (everything including new forums) minus (a few specific forums)?

And I deleted it again because it wasn't his post. Let's not make the mod team(s) look worse than we already do.

I'm confused. I just saw a post deleted by noel and figured it was the post in question. Sorry!

Guess I'll have to pray a bit more to reach enlightenment.

It was the post, but it used to be much longer and what happened was that noel edited it by accident. Then there was no way to restore it, so he deleted it because it wasn't lejend's post anymore.

The post was basically just pointing out that prostitution isn't a normal profession. It's not really relevant to this thread, though, so there's no need to continue that discussion.

The Sheep and the Goats

Matthew 25

31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

I don't think it is healthy to read nonsense like the above, at least not if you are susceptible to manipulation.
