It will probably take about 10-15 years before they reach parity with human form in terms of fleshlike realism, but eventually we'll get there and the plight of female sex workers will end. The market will probably be flooded with cheap Chinese sex robots, so they will probably be so affordable that it won't make any sense to pay a human anymore. Also fewer risks of STDs, no need for any bargaining over what's acceptable or not or any other complications.

It will be like the "vaping" of sex, if you want, in the sense that it's "not the real thing" but it offers the same sensations without any significant health risks.

And then "sex workers" will have to get a job.
A job, as opposed to...?

The sex robot industry will certainly impact the market for human sex workers, but I don't think it will "end". Surely some crave (fake) intimacy with an actual human. Many men seek out prostitutes/escorts not just for sex but for someone to talk to, as well. You can see the potential for that kind of market in Japan.

How would you be retired if you were working as a sex robot salesman? :hmm:

@legend Since you didn't wish to discuss that topic, I won't continue debating it with you. We shall simply agree to disagree.

Edit: Once again, @Goodspeed taking my thoughts and posting them before I do.....

As opposed to having a better chance at getting paid because you have a certain body part.

Those robots will have at least a basic form of conversational AI that will probably be even more entertaining than an overworked and bored "sex worker". The Japanese already have an incipient form of such a product:

I don't get how having sex with robot can lead to same sensation as having real sex. There is nothing alike 2 willing partners having wild sex.

You can do both. Some side revenue never hurt nobody.

How does that make it not a job?
Similarly, you and I have better chances of getting a job in construction because we have a certain body part.

For many, it's not about being entertained, rather about feeling heard, listened to. If it were me, I wouldn't get much out of talking to a robot. I know they aren't really listening and empathizing like a human could. Even if the human is bored and overworked, the customer can at least pretend they're listening.

men are prostitutes, too, anyway. So I'm not sure which body part he's referring to. I can only assume it's a heart...

Could be because human partners don't always agree to indulge the other by giving in to whatever fantasies they have. A robot would be completely accommodating. Heck it might even have some configurable options, like making it tighter with just the adjustment of a slider in an app.
What is realism after all?

Here are some tasty summertime fruits:

Uhm, no, wait, they're graphics:
Image
I posted this in a Discord server and people commented on her as if she was real:
Image
It's pixels:
Image
She's real right?
Image
Yeah, we have reached parity in terms of perceptual realism with computer-generated GFX.
It's only a question of time until there will be flesh-like sex robots too that will be indistinguishable from "the real thing". And probably cost less in the long term.

Do you have anything else to post except shitty ad hominems and baits, when you don't have any arguments, and rehashed Arendt-Lyotard-Frankfurt school second-rate leftist bullshit that used to be cool back in the late 80s?

I know that works and you can fool people who haven't read much and are easy to impress, but that won't get you very far.

haha, who's baiting who?

Perhaps you can just refute what I say when I apparently rehash some old-school, Arendt-Lyotard-Frankfurt school bullshit, considering it's second rate, that shouldn't be too hard for you to do, since you're clearly such an original thinker haha. But ya... you never do. Just ignore it or post some silly meme and then head in the ground by form of blocking. It's always a pleasure, Dolan. Perhaps add some more substance to the conversation next time, and perhaps that wouldn't be the only thing to say about your post.

In any case, about what's fake or not, that's an interesting conversation to have. And while it's sure going to impact the market, the art and gem market are examples that refute your claim that whats "real" will be wholly replaced by whats "fake" because soon we won't be able to as easily distinguish between the two anymore. Even when we can't tell them apart, (some) humans crave for the real deal.

Probably prices for cheap human prostitutes will bottom to the point where it's no longer economically viable, since it's almost impossible to compete with a robot in the long run. And for people who don't have much money to spend, authenticity is hardly something they'll care too much about. (same with fake art, fake gems) On the other hand, prices for high class exports will likely go through the roof, with less women in the industry doing that line of work, those who do will become even more precious. But who knows, nobody has a crystal ball for the future yet. Not even Dolanator the Impartiolan.

the Te Deum is supposed to unite the two choirs of Heaven and Earth in praising God. So the choir here is only singing half the verses while they leave the choirs of angels and saints in Heaven to sing the alternate verses (while the organ roars out its accompaniment to them)
