Dirk Willems was a Dutch martyred Anabaptist who is most famous for escaping from prison and turning back to rescue his pursuer—who had fallen through thin ice while chasing Willems—to then be recaptured, tortured and killed for his faith.

Willems was held in a residential palace turned into a prison, from which he escaped using a rope made out of knotted rags. Using this, he was able to climb out of the prison onto the frozen moat. A guard noticed his escape and gave chase. Willems was able to traverse the thin ice of a frozen pond, the Hondegat, because of his lighter weight after subsisting on prison rations. However, the pursuing guard broke through the ice and yelled for help as he struggled in the icy water. Willems turned back to save the life of his pursuer, thus being recaptured and held until he was burned at the stake near his hometown on 16 May 1569.

Today, he is one of the most celebrated martyrs among Anabaptists, which includes Mennonites and Amish.

It is an odd side of life, that all the pushbacks lejend gets, will strengten his belief in a father in heaven, looking down on us, and even strengthen his belief that Trump is the right president for the USA, even though the latter one is a hateful piece of shit, Lejend will follow and vote for him. It's pretty crazy, isn't it? I have a hard time understanding it, anyway.

Spanky, Trump doesn't need our votes. Only three votes will carry him to victory next year, and those votes will be cast by the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Now, here is a person of belief, who do not put it in your face, but actually struggle to achieve goals that are Christians/humanistic.
Maybe you could explain to me, why you are not supporting Sanders when you claim to be a Cristian? @lejend
I mean, how is it possible to support a person like Trump, and at the same time, say you are a Christian. It is really strange, and I cannot understand it, other than some really strong cognitive dissonance, or double standards, or plain falsehood and lies.

Communists are against family, religion and God, it makes no sense to support Bernie Sanders if you are religious.

Mary Magdalene is traditionally celebrated on this day.

Magdalene was a Jewish woman who traveled with Jesus as one of his followers and was a witness to his crucifixion, burial, and resurrection. She is mentioned by name twelve times in the canonical gospels, more than most of the apostles.

In all four canonical gospels, she is a witness to the crucifixion of Jesus and, in the Synoptic Gospels, she is also present at his burial. All four gospels identify her, either alone or as a member of a larger group of women, as the first witness to the empty tomb, and the first to testify to Jesus's resurrection. For these reasons, she is known as the "apostle to the apostles."

I don't know where you get that Sanders' goals are Christian. I don't really support any politician, just policies. No politician is all good or all bad, but Trump has many more good policies than Sanders, though I find both Trumpist nationalism and atheistic socialism about equally off-putting and incompatible with Christianity. I think a Biden victory (with a Republican Senate) would probably be the best election outcome next year, for policy and other reasons.

Could you mention what polecies that Trump has, that you think are good? And could you also mention some good ones from Sanders?

Too many to list. On domestic issues like judges, taxes, business regulations, guns, abortion, religious liberty, etc., he's governed more or less as a traditional conservative Republican (i.e., small government, socially conservative), so not many complaints there.

On the foreign policy front, he's the most pro-Israel president in history, he's tough on Iran, he's awakened the country and the world to the threat China poses to the liberal order, and while he's too personally friendly with Putin, his administration is generally committed to protecting Eastern Europe against Russian aggression via sanctions, increased troop deployments, military assistance and the like.

And could you also mention some good ones from Sanders?

Well, if Sanders became president, he'd be less harsh on immigrants, and he probably wouldn't cozy up to Arab dictators while whitewashing their human rights abuses as Trump does. He's generally pro-Israel (despite his rhetoric), and I trust him more than most of the other Democratic candidates on this issue.

Other than that I can't think of many specific policies of his that I like right now. But he doesn't seem to have much regard for identity politics, which is good. All forms of socialism are unacceptably bad, but Sanders' brand of socialism doesn't seem as bad as the 'nationalist' sorts of socialism which divide people by religion or ethnicity. He's also not sexually immoral and seems to have a normal family life, and that's pretty important in a president since he's looked at as a role model for young people. That's not really a policy, but character matters about as much as policy to me.

That's never something mentioned, it's instead called socialism most of the time. Ever wondered what USSR stands for?

I guess you are kind of ignorant about Bernie Sanders then? Maybe do some research yourself. I will not waste my time :!:

If you're a truth catholic you should be pro-israel, they protect the christian sites. Much better than letting muslims block them off for other religions.

"College for everyone"
"Jobs for everyone"
"Education for everyone"

these are all typical big government socialist things, and then you have

"Women's rights"
"LGBTQ rights"
"Disability rights"
"Workers' rights"

that are 100% fully communist concepts of causing division among people by grouping them and putting blame on other groups and telling them government is there to solve every problem.

If you want you can read more here to understand: https://berniesanders.com/issues/ @spanky4ever
