The Curse of the English Sports
As you all know England/Great Britain/United Kingdom whatever you may like to call it and some of the older nations that existed on these Island are responsible for inventing some of the most famous sports in the world. Be it the football, cricket, rugby, hockey among others.
My topic for starting this discussion is that how come the country which has been pioneer in the world of sports has fallen so back now?
2018 - Eng fav to win football world cup - lost
2019 - Eng fav to win cricket world cup - on track to lose (one of the greatest upset by sri lanka so far in this world cup)
This recent stats and just among these 2 famous pretty sports.
But take it hockey, rugby, badminton or others, England the birth nation of these sports, why has it fallen so behind now?
In a way England is still economically strong, has funds to invest in sports, has one of the most active diverse sports scene in the world, has infrastructure and experience to develop excellent talent. On an individual level yes England has produced some world class talent, but when as a country or team why does it fall behind?

Clubs don't consist entirely of players from Britain itself, as you can see from my examples I am talking about international level. English clubs winning doesn't necessarily mean England win.

Re: The Curse of the English Sports
The Reason for the UK sucking in sports, apart from one person sports like Olympic events which we do very well in, is down to culture. British mindset, especially English mindset, tends to create a lot of toxicity among players in team games that ruins teamwork and ultimately, means that even though British teams may have excellent single talent, teams never quite jell together. Also just so you know your accounts of the UK doing badly in sports are quite funny really, England was never the favourite to win the world cup, they're top 8 but have never been the favorite since the mid 60s. As with cricket, England are still in the top 4 with 6 games played so can still win.

That's laughable. Obviously you really don't know much about international football.
