Fudge is quite good but it doesn't quite scratch the same "itch" as ice cream does

You continue to astound!
If I were a petal
And plucked, or moth, plucked
From flowers or pollen froth
To wither on a young child’s
Display. Fetch
Me a ribbon, they, all dead
Things scream.

This is a good video that dispels many of the common myths about Columbus
Happy Columbus Day

Re: Freetalk Friday 1
Thank you for the interesting video, there are many SJW nowdays that actively try to discredit Columbus. He was a good and pious man, his men not so much.

Re: Freetalk Friday 1
Actually it’s interesting, apparently one of the big reasons why Columbus Day is a holiday in the United States was to try to dispel strong anti Italian sentiment in the late 1800s/ early 1900s.

i mean the only reason u'd cape for columbus is if u think colonialism = good, and if u think that then ur opinion on most things can be safely discarded

Without colonialism today's US won't exist and you wouldn't be able to teach lessons of morality in ESOC. You would probably be in some animal skin wearing teeth around neck, banging your chest and shouting hula la hula la hula and probably getting stoned for being gay. Hardly anything is ever black and white as you make it out. Was colonialism good for Americas? Probably yes. Was colonialism good for Japan? Probably yes. Was Colonialism good for India, China? Probably not.

Re: Freetalk Friday 1
Agreed. So how do you decide what is good and what is not? Without colonialism and European influence Americas would still be probably isolated and backward. Billions today wouldn't leave in modern world. And would suffer. American tribes also fought amongst themselves and committed genocide. America would be similar to today's Africa. So tell me how do you decide what is good and bad?Cometk wrote:yeah i don't think the genocide of millions of indigenous folk was "good for america"

Re: Freetalk Friday 1
Columbus was a good man. I defend his honour because he has been bad-mouthed a lot lately by SJWs eager to rewrite history as they please. That "colonialism = good" argument is not mine but nevertheless I will give you my opinion. Personally I think that colonialism was overall good, but it obviously had it's bad parts as well. If you wish we can discuss at length the pros and cons of colonization. Keep in mind that I am a direct descendant of those spanish conquerors you seem to hate so much so my opinion might be biased.Cometk wrote:i mean the only reason u'd cape for columbus is if u think colonialism = good, and if u think that then ur opinion on most things can be safely discarded
Re: Freetalk Friday 1
Columbus had a bastard child and removed from his post as governor for brutality. These are historical facts. Even ignoring first hand account of his treatment of sailors and native Americans, he was not a "good" person.
Re: Freetalk Friday 1
I disagree with your "historical facts". Yes he had a bastard child, but he treated him well. Yes, he was accused of brutality, but it was a deception from the spanish crown in order to replace him. The charges were later dropped. Yes he enslaved the natives, but only after they destroyed the Navidad settlement and all his sailors were massacred.gibson wrote:Columbus had a bastard child and removed from his post as governor for brutality. From my point of view, he was a good man. Perhaps not the best, but certainly not the worst as people portray him nowadays.
