Re: Freetalk Friday 1
Before corona it was very common for me and my friends to eat at someone else's place, I've had entire weeks I didn't eat at home. But since we were all poor, sending a Tikkie (payment request) or filling in Wiebetaaltwat (app where you all fill in your expenses and it calculates who owes what) was expected.
Sending a payment request for a coffee sounds insane. I think I would have sent a payment request for amounts of 2 euros and above. Nowadays, I get a round of drinks for 20 euros and don't really care. I would say the Dutch greediness only applied to me when I had no income.

1. I don't understand why you need to plan it in advance. Someone visits, you give them food - it's not complicated.
2. You keep talking about your closest friends, but what about strangers? Would you offer them food?

Amounts? Cooking for 1 person vs 4 makes for a very different grocery shopping list.
Why would you have a stranger in your house?2. You keep talking about your closest friends, but what about strangers? Would you offer them food?

Describe the scenario that would lead to having a stranger in your house at dinner time

Do you not keep stuff at home? Like everytime you are hungry do you need to go outside? Or like do you go out and buy stuff just before dinner and then make it?

I go to the grocery store every day, partly because I don't eat at home at least 2 days a week. So planning it at least 1 hour in advance is necessary for me.princeofcarthage wrote: ↑08 Jun 2022, 08:19Do you not keep stuff at home? Like everytime you are hungry do you need to go outside? Weird for us ngl. We always have something at home either readymade or something which can be cooked up in 15 mins if unexpected guests arrive. We also usually have groceries for couple days. Also I guess in India in most places most general groceries are available hardly a min away do not much of an issue.

Does anyone have any insight into projectors? I'm thinking of buying a projector + screen for home entertainment use.

30 degrees is freezing
If I were a petal
And plucked, or moth, plucked
From flowers or pollen froth
To wither on a young child’s
Display. Fetch
Me a ribbon, they, all dead
Things scream.

Imagine freezing not being zero
