Official Getting Older thread
Thanks to my recent 9-5 job, I can't get my hair cut as often as I used to, at least not at my normal barber. And as my hair grows on the sides of my head it makes me realize just how many of my hairs are becoming silver.
Now that I'm getting older, how should I react? Positive responses only please or else I'll accuse you of attempted murder.

Hope you have good health insurance. Wait til you start getting random illnesses or your body starts fighting back against your lifestyle.fightinfrenchman wrote:Thanks to my recent 9-5 job, I can't get my hair cut as often as I used to, at least not at my normal barber. First of all, calm your tits.
Secondly, do nothing, because in less than 15 years there will probably be a cure.

I think I'll stop getting older at 30. Seems like a good age.

Just wait for your first kidney stone or bout of gout. Have you started getting plantar warts on the bottom of your feet? Do you wake up to pee 2 times each night? If no to any of these you are not old and have not suffered in life long enough to complain.

The only way to stay young is to keep learning. As long as you do things you don't know how to do and try to figure them out, your mind will very likely stay as functional as it is right now for decades. Eventually biological age will start to become a hinderance, since we are intrinsecally programmed to face senescence sooner or later, but that doesn't mean living will be less worthwhile.

You could learn enough to join the ranks of researchers looking for a way to remove whatever blocks the production of melanine, the pigment that colours hair. Apparently, as people age up, hydrogen peroxide builds up in hair follicles, blocking the production of melanine and making hair look colourless.fightinfrenchman wrote:How does learning stop my hair from going grey
Some recent study found a way to restore hair colour in a 61-year old by chance, after treating some psoriasis symptoms:
https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/a ... 2618300158
So, imo, there's gonna be some treatment in less than 15 years, that will stop greying and then later reverse it. But by the time you will get this treatment, you'll probably be bald.
