UK general election thread

Post by thomasgreen6 »

I know some people are interested in politics here (no names) so I thought I'd start a thread leading up to December 12th. I want to find out who people would vote for and also discuss the various issues as the election goes on. There are two rules: if you disagree with someone please debate with them respectfully and if you quote something as fact i.e not your opinion then please back it up with evidence. I put a list of the parties, their politics and their leaders below for anyone that doesn't follow UK politics.
spoiler
Image Conservative - Conservative, centre right/right wing -> Boris Johnson - manifesto: https://assets-global.website-files.com ... ifesto.pdf
Labour - Social democratic, centre left/left wing -> Jeremy Corbyn - manifesto: https://labour.org.uk/wp-content/upload ... o-2019.pdf
Liberal Democrat - Liberalism, centre left - centre right, pro EU (tend to be centre left socially and centre right economically?) - Jo Swinson - manifesto: https://d3n8a8pro7vhmx.cloudfront.net/l ... 1574251172
Green party - Left wing, left wing/green -> Jonathan Bartley and SiĆ¢n Berry - manifesto: https://www.greenparty.org.uk/assets/fi ... 202019.pdf
SNP (Scotish national party) - Social democratic, centre left/nationalist -> Nicola Sturgeon - manifesto: https://s3-eu-west-2.amazonaws.com/www. ... wnload.pdf
Brexit Party - Right wing, eurosceptic -> Nigel Farage - manifesto or 'contract with the people': https://www.thebrexitparty.org/wp-conte ... People.pdf
Ukip (lol really?) - Right wing, eurosceptic -> Idk it changes every week when the previous leader gets fired for saying something controversial - manifesto (interim): https://www.ukip.org/pdf/UKIP_Manifesto_Nov_2019.pdf
Independent candidate - Varies depending on candidate -> depends on the candidate
Other*
* Northern Ireland have their own party system and Plaid Cymru, the welsh national party or party of Wales, stand in Wales

SNP all the way. Scotland should declare its independence and immediately join Ireland for a strong European Union-styled alliance. The Netherlands can colonize Northern-Ireland in the confusion.

Which option do you pick if you're a foreigner who doesn't particularly care about the results, but will shitpost aggressively about it regardless of who wins?

The centre left are partly still here but as far as I am aware that's not the stance the membership of the party want
