Someone explain "emotes" to me
At the end of Call of Duty Mobile games the top three players' characters do a weird motion that I think is called an "emote." I also think Fortnite started or at least popularized this trend.
Can someone explain this to me? Why is it good for your character to do a weird motion

I’m not sure why they exist, but imagine paying cash to unlock emotes

Dance has been a form of intense human expression for as long as information has been able to outlive a single person.
If emotes are foreign then you have lost an appreciation for a basic, beautiful human attribute. And if you feel uncomfortable dancing around others you're an inhuman piece of trash and should go die.

If your friends don't dance then they're no friends of mine.

Re: Someone explain "emotes" to me
I have nearly 5k hours of Team Fortress play under my belt. That was the last game I took seriously for competitive play. I logged on back in 2015 after a long break but it seemed to be all about hats and people were busy trading and not really playing. The other day, Gibson was telling me about how me made good money selling some game items in steam so I looked at my inventory and had like 29998890 unopened crates but not many actual opened crate items. I really did not like that all of the sudden the game was about getting random drops and buying keys to open crates for random weapon upgrades or a rare hat. But I do miss being one of the top Engineers and Demo man for our NA team back in the day. I wonder if this game has any life left in it at all, beyond stupid hats.
