Update: my uncle-in-law tested positive for coronavirus, more than a week after he got the Pfizer vaccine.
So, at this point, I wonder if it's even worth getting the vaccine.
Especially if you're not old, fat or have any health conditions, it might not make any difference tbh.

Its clearly reported that it takes a long time before the vaccine is at maximum efficacy. The entire reason to take the vaccine is the protection it offers after the second dose so this comment by you is incredibly stupid.

"Incredibly stupid" sounds a slightly exaggerated. I just learned that the vaccines usually take multiple weeks to build up protection. The second shot further enhances this. Depending on the vaccine used, one can get up to 80% protection with the first shot and up to 95% with the second. However, this still implies that you can get ill even when you received both shots.

On a related note, there also seems to be a (significantly) reduced probability of having a severe course of disease, even after receiving the first shot, which further raises your chances to survive covid19 and, possibly, without "long covid" symptoms. Further, you are less likely to spread covid19 after receiving a vaccination. It is the combination of increased protection, higher survival rates, and lower infectivity which makes vaccines so important.

In your case, @Dolan, there might be chance that the vaccine already helps your uncle in preventing the worst. Fingers crossed!

How is it blocking? It is just redistribution so that instead of keeping large stocks for a long time you get 2 deliveries of shorter stock. Countries which India export to or donate aren't capable of 10 million doses a day. If they have planned 1 million doses over a month, instead of 1, 1 million dose delivery they are getting 500k doses in 2 batch.

Maybe we do not share many news sources. I have to admit, though, that this kind of information is not very relevent for me up to now, since neither I nor anyone very close to me has already had a vaccine shot. We are not part of the groups that are currently being vaccinated.
