Bavaria
Bavaria
@j_t_kirk @Gichtenlord and Germans in general, what should I know before moving there?
From what I gathered with a very basic research, Bavarians are proud people, like Corsicans in France or Texans in the US, hence the Freistaat vs Land distinction.
They have their own dialect and an accent similar to the one you can find in Austria bar Vienna. It's also the homeland of Siemens, BMW and Allianz.

Re: Bavaria
In Munich (where I live), some people have a very strong accent in german (I don't understand anything of what they say), but that's a minority. Although that's always people coming from somewhere else in Bavaria so I guess it depends where exactly you go.
There is also Bavarian as a dialect but I think it's very rarely used and everyone can speak German.

Re: Bavaria
Would you say people who speak with a thick Bavarian accent or dialect are usually old?bwinner wrote:In Munich (where I live), some people have a very strong accent in german (I don't understand anything of what they say), but that's a minority. Re: Bavaria
In Munich yes. Outside of Munich, in south and east Bavaria, younger people speak bavarian as well, but almost everyone can speak high German. It realy depends on where you are. Where are you going to? @DjigitDjigit wrote:Would you say people who speak with a thick Bavarian accent or dialect are usually old?bwinner wrote:In Munich (where I live), some people have a very strong accent in german (I don't understand anything of what they say), but that's a minority. In Bavaria that's the only option + the surrounding cities like Ismaning.j_t_kirk wrote:Munich is nice. I don't live there right now, but I its likley that I will move back to Munich in 2 years. What are the other options you have?Djigit wrote:Munich is one of the options.Show hidden quotes
Outside of Bavaria, Frankfurt.
Re: Bavaria
Honnestly I am super happy with living in Munich. And that's the case for everyone I know here, so I really advise you to come
I've also lived in Frankfurt for a bit a long time ago and I prefere Munich without doubt even though both are nice.

Re: Bavaria
How is that? Bavaria is a part of Germany while Africa is an entire continent made up of over 50 countries.Horsemen wrote:Africa and Bavaria are basically the same at this point anyway
