What exactly is the definition of a "mass grave"
Is it a massive grave, as in very large, or is it a lot of bodies in one grave? How close together do the bodies need to be for it to be a mass grave vs. many individual graves? Is any cemetery a mass grave? Is it only a mass grave if you bury multiple bodies in the same hole, regardless or the distance between the bodies? But then when you fill the hole there is soil between the bodies, just like a normal cemetery so again it comes back to the space between the bodies.

For me, mass grave = a grave that contains multiple corpses and is also unmarked. So you can't tell who is buried where specifically, which is what justifies the "mass" qualifier. It's a bunch of dead anons in a common burial space.

Calling human bodies in a mass grave "anons" is a sign of severe brainworms

Anons is a respectful term.fightinfrenchman wrote:Calling human bodies in a mass grave "anons" is a sign of severe brainworms
Anons have always been more respectable than tripfags.

Hey, being anonymous is the most respectable way of being. Nobody should be famous, not even for 15 minutes. Fame is pretentiousness.

Re: What exactly is the definition of a "mass grave"
Well a grave is a hole which holds a corpse/corpses. Adding the word "mass" means that it is holding a lot of corpses. However, reintroducing my previous question about whether funerals preclude a grave from the status of mass-grave, one may reasonably infer that having the time to perform rituals means the burial was conducted in a fairly timely, proper manner. This seems to take away from the notion of ritualized mass graves actually being mass graves because it means that one had the time to perform ceremonies. Under this logic, I appear to be operating under the presumption that mass graves are a hastily done, even dishonorable thing. That means that those stories of Pharaohs who would have the architects and builders of their mausoleums killed with him do not turn pyramids into mass graves, because the whole thing is being conducted properly. This moves away from the quantity theory of mass graves and suggests a more qualitative aspect to it, while still recognizing the need for multiplicity of corpses.Horsemen wrote:Well? We seem to have this mass grave thing figured out, but what exactly is a grave mass?
Re: What exactly is the definition of a "mass grave"
I noticed you were talking about pharaohs, have u played assassins creed origins? Their discovery feature is awesome. It's like walking through a museum with an Egyptian theme except much betterAmsel_ wrote:Well a grave is a hole which holds a corpse/corpses. When a mediocre bombard goes against a shitload of strelets.
Irl its when theres a density of corpses in a small area. Examples of this include sites of war like in Gettysburg Pennsylvania.
