Re: Nicotine thread
I gave up a few years ago, was dreaming about smoking for a while after. Since then, I've smoked a few times when I went out drinking with smoker friends, but haven't smoked anything this year so far. Sometimes I'll get a craving, when I see someone smoking like it's the best thing ever.
I'll probably still smoke a joint on rare occasions, but I have no desire to start smoking cigs.
I got no real tip for quitting, I think for me it was I just wanted to quit, and I did, it was the same way I started.

Uhmm, maybe 6-7 years? So like during the last 2 years of high school and uni, plus an extra year or two when I smoked much less often, until I quit.gamevideo113 wrote:Replacing the habit is probably the first thing people who are trying to quit should try, maybe with a gradual decrease.
How long have you been smoking? @Dolan

you can do this buddy. The cigarettes are not worth the damage you do to your body.iNcog wrote:24 hours
would like a cig but I don't have any and it isn't bothering me per se

Re: Nicotine thread
When I gave up a strange thing happened, I had told myself that the first 24 hours would be the worst and that if I could do that I would be fine.
I had planned to go the first two weeks without going to the pub in order to avoid the extra temptation of a fag with a pint and after the first two weeks of no smoking I decided to give myself a reward of a trip to the pub, what happened next makes me think that what Dolan said is true- I was literally halfway through my first pint when I looked down and saw a half-smoked fag in my hand- I had completely involuntarily lit one and smoked half of it without even 'giving in', I had made no conscious decision to smoke at all, I was pretty horrified and determined not to let this sneaky plant fool me again.
I've only had one fag since in 17 years, but that's another story.
After one month my lungs felt clean and my sense of smell improved and I really didn't want to smoke after that.

You’re far stronger than that. You have nothing to prove to anybody. The only person you’ll disappoint is yourself. But that’s more of a reason to succeed.iNcog wrote:I'm annoyed at a lot of different shit right now and I definitely want to go to the gas station and get myself a pack.
Haven't given in to the urge yet.
You can do this, I believe you can

Anyway, nuancing isn't your forte, so I'll agree with you like I would with a 8 year old: violence is bad, don't do hard drugs and stay in school Benj98
