RIP my cat Tifa

We found her in December 2007, on a particularly cold and windy night, hiding in our bushes. Well, not really hiding, she was just in them and meowing to the top of her lungs, so loudly we could hear her over unusually high winds. We convinced our parents to let us bring her inside because she was so tiny and it was so cold, but we already had a dog and another cat so we kept her in a small bathroom downstairs. Both our dog (Punkin) and our other cat (Gustpelt) spent a lot of time next to the door trying to get to her, and eventually they got to meet her and she was part of the family ever since. We didn't know how old she was, but she never really got any bigger, no matter how many treats she got or how much food she stole from us, which was a lot. She would always greet me when I came home from school/work, would sleep in my bed almost every night, and always loved to give people fist bumps (just with her head).

Today when I got home from work I immediately noticed her acting strangely, and after a couple minutes she just collapsed on the floor. We brought her to the pet hospital immediately, but after a couple of hours her condition worsened and the best course of action was to put her down. Kind of want to say something positive but this just honestly sucks a lot

Punkin passed away at 14 years old on February 1, 2008, just a couple months after we took in Tifa. Gustpelt is still nice and healthy at 14 years old and will now be getting tons of unnecessary checkups and test out of my newfound fear.

Edit: literally caught the moron chewing on plastic as I wrote this post so maybe my fear is justified

I lost my dog, 2 years ago, and I still miss him A LOT. If you had bonded to your cat as I had to my dog, you will miss her for a long time. It will get easier with time, but you will always remember her with love.
