Re: Do you fear Death??
It is not death that a man should fear, but he should fear never beginning to live.

Re: Do you fear Death??
I legitimately don’t. I may fear how I die, because a slow painful death of course sounds quite terrifying. Even drowning to me seems a bit scary. But I am not afraid of death itself, and the concept of no longer being alive on this earth. Not very religious, agnostic actually, so it’s not like I “know” where I’m going afterwords, which doesn’t bother me in the slightest.

Death is an interesting concept with different interperations . Ones fear, acceptance or bliss depends on your interperation of the afterlife or the lack of.

Re: Do you fear Death??
I used to not fear death. I craved it. Tried to escape life. Failed, but continued to romanticize the idea. Made tough changes in my life. Did some drugs. Now I'm terrified of dying because I'm the happiest I've ever been in my life and I want to see and experience so much more that life has to offer. I even want children. I want to give as much love to others as I can. Death takes all that away and while I obviously won't care about what I missed out on since I'll be dead, as I'm dying I don't want to have regrets about how I treated others and the choices I made in life.

Re: Do you fear Death??
There are two terrifying things about death. The first is the process of dying itself. People are used to be in control for most of their life after puberty. The process of dying is very difficult to control. Basically only when you take measures that are close to suicide. This loss of control should not be underestimated and is potentially exacerbated by a long road of suffering before, finally, dying. The second terrifying thing about death is what it does to your loved ones. If I was run over by a car tomorrow and instantly dead, I would not have many problems with it afterwards - I would be dead. However, the consequences for my 9-months-old daughter, to name only the most striking one, are surely terrifying.

No, because I believe I will go to the presence of my saviour.

Re: Do you fear Death??
I should have rephrased that. Everyone who wants to live fears death, and if you don't youre stupid.Ashvin wrote:lolgibson wrote:I think everyone does, and if you don't youre stupid.

You don’t have to fear it even though you don’t want it.gibson wrote:I should have rephrased that. Everyone who wants to live fears death, and if you don't youre stupid.Ashvin wrote:lolgibson wrote:I think everyone does, and if you don't youre stupid.
A comparison for me would be a race. I don’t want to lose a race, but that doesn’t mean I have a fear of losing. I just rather not have it happen.
Death can be seen the same way. I get that death is a much more extreme situation but the same principals apply!

That qualifier was there not as a reason but because there are people who are depressed, suicidal, dont want to live etc.vardar wrote:You don’t have to fear it even though you don’t want it.gibson wrote:I should have rephrased that. I would say "... If you don't maybe you need help and love"gibson wrote:I should have rephrased that. Everyone who wants to live fears death, and if you don't youre stupid.Ashvin wrote:lolgibson wrote:I think everyone does, and if you don't youre stupid.
E: I am not talking about old people here, usually they know they lived their life. My grandmother was kind of ready to go, although, she was beyond point of no return in terms of recovery so maybe that was the reason.
Re: Do you fear Death??
Nope, not at all. I think if you have responsibilities in this life, like a spouse or children who rely on you, it's natural to worry about leaving them too soon, but that's different than fearing death itself. If you're a Christian, then in the grand scheme of things death has no power over you.
