It seems to me that you might confuse Baal (and maybe Beelzebub) with his majesty, The Baphomet.

Afaik Baphomet was first used in the context of satanism, when Lavey founded the church of Satan in 1966, the reason being that he thought "As above, so below" best described the satanic church and it's core values.

To my understanding even the word was really a description of anything that was ungodly/ unholy perversion as satanic. The Bible does use it in translation seemingly synonymous with the Devil and Lucifer the fallen angel.
