true, but the game itself (CS or league or whatever is the top esport) doesn't require physicality to play. whereas track and field requires physicality from even a novice to participate in it at all, therefore, its more essential to that activity.

Actually physicality has nothing to do with anything. Performance has to do. And in most games (or whatever you want to call it) performance comes with physicality(or so we think). Laws of universe only prevent a naked singularity not a 450 pound elephant from being the fastest swimmer.
Fine line to something great is a strange change.

450 pounds seems small for an elephant

Not really, elephants can weigh as low as 90kg.

A problem with this diagram is that it implies that these factors are in tension with each other, e.g. more physicality implies less contention with opponents or judging. A radar chart seems to make more sense.

i'm actually quite proud of this.

some things i've learned: breakdancing is the ultimate middle-ground competition, equally involving measured objectives (hitting the moves), subjective assessment (judges decide the match) and counterplay against opponents (breakdancers face off in pairs)..

other takeaways: track and field is the midpoint between game and sport. synchronized swimming is the midpoint between sport and performance. rap battles are the the midpoint between performance and game.

In 50 years, we will be telling our grandkids that their new sports aren't real e-sports.

In 50 years we'll be telling them we used to have sports once, when they take a break from defending the city in the trenches to play some street craps on a patch of pavement that wasn't destroyed yet.

Armwrestling should be where track and field is.

no, armwrestling would be where wrestling is. Track and field is the midpoint because it combines measured objectives (complete the 100m) with counterplay activities (beat your opponent in a race). You can both compete against the general record (sport) or against opponents (game). Armwrestling is much closer to a game, since its pretty much entirely based around countering your opponent.
