Re: Music you're listening to
Denzel Curry - CLOUT COBAIN [southern hip hop, trap rap. a trunk knocker.]
Travis Scott - STOP TRYING TO BE GOD [alternative r&b, experimental hip hop, trap rap. this song isn't quite oh my dis side / rodeo in terms of immaculate arrangement/song-writing, but it's still a beautifully nuanced and emotional story of humility in a genre that's otherwise inundated with mediocrity and passionlessness. other good songs from this album: COFFEE BEAN, 5% TINT, ASTROTHUNDER, SICKO MODE (go to :50 to skip drake's verse)]
Nostrum Grocers - Ashwaghanda [abstract hip hop. this line sticks with me so hard... "somebody else's idea, of somebody else's world, is not, my idea, of things, as they are". other good songs from this album: thermometer, medium, '98 gewehr]
Phonte - Cry No More [conscious hip hop, southern hip hop, dad rap. phonte is a rapper from the LEGENDARY three-piece north carolina crew Little Brother... one of the game's most overlooked. this song's a really touching meditation on death, family and his experience with fatherhood.]
August Greene - The Time (feat. Brandy) [conscious hip hop, jazz rap, neo-soul. syncopated drum-playing from karriem riggins, wonderful vocal harmonies from robert glasper and brandy, and ofc the thoughtful, deliberate raps of common. other good songs from this album: Optimistic, No Apologies, Let Go.]
Hermit and the Recluse - Sirens [abstract hip hop, east coast hip hop, concept album, dejected-type raps. allegorical-type raps. powerful.]
Tego Calderon - No Me La Explota [latin rap, 2002.]
J Balvin - Ahora [reggaeton, latin pop. pleasant, summery tones, romantic singing melodies. great, sweet dancing vibes.]
Iglooghost - New Vectors [wonky, drill and bass. frenetic electro compositions. iglooghost's music is in a lane of its own. this song in particular is a more tame, sentimental tune of his incorporating some string elements and soaring, child-like vocals. his album neo wax bloom was also one of my favorite albums of last year.]
Ross From Friends - Project Cybersyn [outsider house. ross from friends is a recent signee to brainfeeder, flying lotus' record label.]
alva noto - Uni Mic B [glitch, microsound, minimal techno. mr. noto delivering with the refined, forward-thinking digital compositions and soundscaping. this is a good gateway song for getting into glitch music because it's not as harsh as some of the others he's created. noto, along with ryoji ikeda and ryuichi sakamoto have defined lowercase music and this type of sound experimentation for decades now.]
DeepChord - Immersion I [dub techno, ambient dub, aquatic-type shit. this is probably difficult to sit through for most ESOC users, but if you enjoy listening to relaxing, non-intrusive background music that has slight-but-nuanced progressions while you game, well then boy]
Pool Boy - Old Dog No Tricks [ibiza house, deep house]
Elysia Crampton - Nativity [deconstructed house, latintronica. really interesting sound palette and latino vocal samples, reminds me of a bit of teebs in terms of auric world-building and FlyLo in terms of eccentric collage-work (also the drum pattern switch at 1:18, woo)]
공중도둑 - 쇠사슬 [korean folktronica, neo-psychelia, progressive pop. phantasmagorical, ethereal. mellifluous. dreamy intertwining of male/female vocals and romantic upward string melodies... not an album to be slept on! in fact, one of my favorites of this year. other good songs from this album: 곡선과 투과광, 함께 무너지기.]
Altın Gün - Goca Dünya [anatolian rock, psychedelic rock. actually a netherlands-based group with turkish vocalists. wonderful desert-tinged keys.]
Weedpecker - Liquid Sky [stoner rock.]
A Beacon School - Algernon [dream pop, indie pop, nondescript.]
[spoiler=favorite verse of the month]Phonte - Cry No More
My sons look at me these days and think I'm certified
Preparing them for a world they'll be deserted by, internalize
Black Man if you get a teaspoon of compassion, that's more than double the serving size
I get impatient, shit is taking too long
They don't get it, I really lived it, you can say what you want
'Cause by the time you realize that your father was right
You'll probably have your own son telling you that you wrong
But be his ride or die, even if you two ain't seein' eye to eye
Teach him how to throw a punch, ride a bike, tie a tie
Hold on to 'em while you can, this is just what I advise[/spoiler]

@Snuden
We lost a great performer in Kim Larsen. He was a trubadur sinse he was very young, and almost to his last breath.

I smoked my first pipe of hashish listening to him

"I am pretty much a loner, but this piece makes me feel like I have lived a thousand times over."
The paintings (that are magnificent on their own) pair exceptionally well with the music. Erik Satie was a weird man, and his music thus has a hint of quirkiness behind that which might seem mundane and possibly monotonous. Let the subtleties carry you away.

Pay more attention to detail.

Re: Music you're listening to
I have, long time ago
Kim Larsen was really loved in Norway, and famous ever since he played in the band Gasolin. He used to tours every year. I watched one of his performances really near where I live.
