Well I have never read the manga, but IIRC the anime has about 500 episodes and they still haven't found the 'one piece' yet.

One Piece is consistently good. Not the best anime, but hasn't lost its touch. As for reindeers with hats, part of One Piece's whole atmosphere is being over-the-top and ridiculous.
For those who don't watch anime and want to try it out/see a good one, you might find Attack on Titan rather accessible.
