Not really. I mean in a way you could argue yes, but this is literal example of how to dig your own grave.
Can you explain how the UK has literally dug its own grave?
By choosing to leave EU? Thought it was pretty clear.

I think my usage of word is perfect. If anything it could be "literally an example of....". It is is you who probably need to google.

Pretty sure if out government is bold enough to become an offshore tax haven we will do brilliantly.

Yes, you could become like Ireland or Cyprus but that still means the Empire the Brits are so proud of is dead. Through EU at least UK had the potential or wielding a soft power rivaling that of US or even hard power if EU decides to commit to military at some point. But UK never viewed itself as part of Europe and it failed to even wield the soft power as Germany or France during its tenure.

How can you become like Ireland or Cyprus when both of these are in the EU while you are not? I don't see that elevating itself towards the level of these two is on the table for the UK.

I still don't think dramatizing the situation is helpful. Brexit is probably gonna hurt Britain but in the long run they will (thankfully) be just fine, if a bit worse off than they would have been otherwise. Sure the EU has to make sure it is clear to other countries that leaving the EU is painful, that does not by any stretch mean they would want the UK to fail lol.

Taking words in their usual or most basic sense without metaphor or exaggeration

The literal meaning is the most obvious or non-figurative sense of a word or words.

Therefore the literal example of the UK digging themselves a hole, would be with a shovel, or maybe mining.

Yeah but literal is adjective for word example not the metaphor. You would be correct if I said "UK is literally digging it's own grave." My statement implies that the example is the literal example for the said metaphor.

I'm looking forward to the post Brexit trade deal with the United States. If there's anything Americans need it's definitely a few more pounds.

Post-brexit only just started. Seems premature to be making claims about how well the UK is doing

Idk about that. Vaccines were good. Other than that I think we could have been doing a lot better by cutting tax rates etc.

Lol. If she's not a liar she's pretty thick if she goes into the royal family not expecting to have to live as a royal.

So all of a sudden someone goes on TV and says something it becomes true?

Just that it's funny for you to reflexively support the British royal family

I have to doubt Meghan Markle was ever really planning to stick around in the royal family. Everyone knows they're fucked up, and she doesn't need the money, so she would have to be very stupid to actually want to be a royal. Maybe she and Harry were planning from the start to get out, and at that point why not milk it for publicity?

More power to them. The monarchy needs to gtfo

I don't know why you are so angry at the monarchy. It's not like monarchy has any significant power if any at all. Most of all it is symbolic.

Why am I always misunderstood. I don't particularly support the royal family. I am just surprised or angry at how naive people can be. If you want to ruin someone all it takes in today's world is to go on TV and throw accusations. If you are a woman it automatically becomes true.
