its actually not, the producer of the first AoE told that in an interview sb posted on here, guess its somewhere in one of the hype threads bout the new aoe games

It had nothing to do with historical accuracy. Actually, there was one bit from the famous „Making of Age of Empires 3" mini-movie where one nice bald and a-bit-fat dev said they couldn't afford such measures as for instance placing Africans on plantations not to discourage any groups, in large.
