Whats the difference between these astronomical speeds and lets say having something like 50/50 or 100/100 apart from faster downloads....
not much, I can stack a steam game, a torrent, and as many streams of twitch or Netflix that I want, and when I have a slow down I don’t notice it since I still get 200/200

Why not just get 200/200 then? it would be a lot cheaper wouldn't it?

no its 8 dollars cheaper to get 100/100 and 200 dollars more expensive to get 10,000/10,000 and those are the only 3 plans my isp offers.
Shouldve went with 100/100 then. Unless you are an enterprise network you are never going to use the full gig and probably rarely if ever more than the 100. Classic example of buying stuff you don't need.

my and my roommate have over 10 devices connected including 3 4K TVs. A 4K tv uses aprox 25 just by itself so if all 3 are running that’s 75 just for TVs not including anything else. During football season we regularly have all 3 streaming as well as having friends over with their devices so for 8 bucks a month it definitely makes sense to get 1000
At the moment, we pay $190 a month for 125 download and 6 upload, with a monthly usage cap of 400gb, where overage charges come to $1.50 per additional gb, from a company that is known to have frequent outages and lag spikes.

Yeah, it's pretty bad. I spent the entire month watching videos in 144p and avoiding otherwise excessive internet usage and we're still going to pay $30 in overage charges.
I guess it's not as bad as it used to be. When I was growing up here the limit was 10gb a month for $50-70(?), with $10 for every additional gb. My dad would have to unplug the router somewhere between the 15th - 20th of every month usually. Fun times.
I knew Canada had some of the worst Internet/Cell prices in the world but that is terrible.
I pay $80 for unlimited at 200 download and 15 upload.
I called Rogers customer retention line and saved about $40 a month without having to say anything, just asked what they could do for me. Maybe call your provider retention line @Mitoe.
EDIT - Maybe you are rural and have no choice of provider?
@Warno Yeah this place is really isolated. I'm way up north; closest city is a 15-18 hour drive. EDIT: I guess 10 hours, actually; but that city is pretty small and isolated as well.
There is one other ISP here, but they are also quite expensive and only offer satellite service. They're more unreliable than our current ISP, sadly.
