Will there be in the future...
Last post for the day, I promise
I just wanted to know if there will be reputation for individuals like in the last forum in the future of this forum. I think it will be a nice thing to have here.
And to know who are the top contributors of this forum

Unsurpisngly a fight between GS and incog. Not even close to 3rd place ahahah.
By reputation, you mean like a "thanks" button you can push on someones post ?
Also you might want to consider what area of the fourm you post your topics in. :happytomato:
Post as much as you want but I''m not sure this qualifies as strategy !

Those sorts of features always make a lot of posters really egotistical.
The function of man is to live, not to exist.

Fk reagan preaching legend is right for once, even though reagan was an american politician, so obviously all he did was care about other opinions... Or pretend he did anyways

Not entirely, for people in today's society this might be true (mainly because since childhood they have been raised to believe this is the only way to selfaffirmation), but for those with a moral and psychological selfsufficient character will produce and contribute either because they believe it is good or because they want to be/achieve the best they can, and they loath to be less/achieve than they are/can.
Aka they will do things like they always did, but now for internal reason and satisfaction, instead of external or actually interrelational. The direct result is indeed a loss of a powerful shortterm stimuli for productivity, but longterm it should lead to better quality. Because when the judgment of others is the drive for your activity, then it actually becomes rational to fake the desired result instead of actually achieving it, as long as the effort of not geting caught is less than the effort to actually do it (ir the risk of getting caught/punished is really low to make it worth it etc). After all it doesn't matter wether you are as good as you say, as long as others (don't) believe it. Vice versa, if this is the only way you know to affirm yourself, then you will actually believe you are only as good as others say you are and therefore you will try to earn their esteem, which in the short-term is ok, but in the long run will lead to all kinds of issues and social tensions we see in society today.

How would people fake results here? No one would be awarded reputation unless it was genuinely felt that they deserved it.umeu wrote:Not entirely, for people in today''s society this might be true (mainly because since childhood they have been raised to believe this is the only way to selfaffirmation), but for those with a moral and psychological selfsufficient character will produce and contribute either because they believe it is good or because they want to be/achieve the best they can, and they loath to be less/achieve than they are/can.

What else are we supposed to encourage? The community itself should be left to decide what it wants to see from its members.neuron wrote:Any such system would encourage postwhoring of all types: either post spamming for the sake of postcount status or posting only what others want to hear, just for the sake of getting reputation.frycookofdoom wrote:How would people fake results here? I dont mind that, but Im not sure its a good idea to encourage it.

The poll would have more legitimacy if it was posted by an admin.neuron wrote:Open a poll then and establish the tyranny of a?posthunting majority.frycookofdoom wrote:What else are we supposed to encourage? The community itself should be left to decide what it wants to see from its members.
