Ships that inspire you

I'm neither a Navy man nor have I done much sailing past that of taking a small sailing a dingy out in the harbor. However, when I hear of certain ships it sends a shiver down my spine. One of these is the Cutty Sark. I don't know what it is but there is just something about that ship that inspires me.

The USS Constitution, one of the six original American super-frigates that defeated so many British ships in the War of 1812 that it resulted in a decree by the Admiralty that no British warship was to ever singly engage an American frigate again. The USS Constitution is still a commissioned warship of the United States Navy and is manned by active-duty USN personnel.

Those frigates were practically ships of the line in terms of the weight of their broadside.

yes in this case the fact that I am dutch is very relevant. I think I read a book about the flying dutchman (pirates of the carribeanesque) when I was a little child, so it has a rather special place in my heart.

Also the only ship I really know about.

The dutch navy was like the best navy in like 1600-1700. After that they kinda fell short in terms of military power.
