"Day of the siege" and other movies

Post by howlingwolfpaw »

I just found a good move on net flicks called "day of the siege" (2012) depicting the ZSept 11th 1683 attack on Vienna by the Turks. I don't know why it got so few stars other than the B level CGI but I can understand what sacrifices a lower budget movie has to make to show things on such a grand scale. Lots of musketeers, Janissary, bowmen, horse archers, grenadiers, maybe some abus, cannon, winged hussars with pistols and sabers. lancers, and other cool battle techniques.

My all time favorite battle movie is "heaven and earth" which is about Tokugawa and feudal Japan. That movie has such great realistic feeling battles where maneuvers and battle formations are important and the fighting is not like blood bath slaughter but more like a chess game. Has lots of samurai, ashi, yari spearmen, archers, cavalry, even female naginata riders. There is another modern movie called heaven and earth but it is not the same one and not nearly as good.. this is with English subtitles. to see this one you practically have to buy it off ebay but its definitely worth it.

So I'm curious, what other movies are from the Time period of this game based off real events?

Haven''t seen it yet but I''ve heard some bad reviews. The consensus seems to be it''s the worst of the Craig films.

Just came back from it, watched in in "IMAX": was expecting a bigger screen but the sound was pretty insane.
the movie: I'm a fan of the ones with pierce brosman, but I just don't find craig charismatic at all. James bond girl is a cute frenchy, but a bit too innocent, again I preferred eva green.
In the end if you go watch a james bond for the special effects, the fights/acting, speed chase and a few James Bond quote (even tho there was too few of them, same for the gadgets) you'll like it. However I didn't catch the story: a friend told me all of what happened is linked to the previous ones which I forgot (I didn't even see skyfall). Also lack of nice landscape like the ones we saw in Casino Royale with the beautiful Lake Como.

The kind of movie that's enjoyable on big screen, but I won't talk about it tomorrow. 2h30 went fast tho, lot's of action. Monica Bellucci is still hot, and the costume/suits were really nice if that matters. The bad guy almost looked gentle which was weird.

I'd rate it 2.5/5' kinda curious of what will be the sequel

Yeah I also watched it yesterday. It was ok/average. Fun and entertaining, but it's not a movie you would watch twice.

I think Goldeneye was the best bond ever. Pierce just had the right amount of class, and the movie I will say was more iconic Bond. I saw this new one too and agree with the previous comments.
