Doing a little research, it seems that urumi were used in medieval India but not really in the colonial era.

india itself is pretty mysterious and for some reason never got as popularized as other cultural fighting units. because a urumi could be as cool as a samurai in a movie for a main character. i could see in medieval india Urumi holding back lines of unarmored troops very effectively. its kind of terrifying to try to fight that.

As long their endurance held out, that is. It would probably get pretty tiring whipping those urumi around.

yeah but people were just built different back then and people who trained with it were masters of all weapons and great athletes. Like brittish longbow men training up to 2oo lb bows. NO one would be doing that today. also prolly taking some strong aruvedic herbs and energy concoctions before battle.

its like a big heavy club with metal studs in it
