Ofc you not everyone should just be able to go to the store to buy one, you should have to have a back ground check first and only be able to buy a small one first. Here's a fact, Nuclear weapons in the hands of civilians have killed less people than guns, knives, coconuts, sharks, lighting, frying pans, computer batteries, ladders, lamps, and water tanks! Plus, I enjoy seeing the mushroom cloud after one is fired. If you have a clean record and apparent good intentions, why shouldn't you be able to buy one? Recreational uses only of course.

No, they should not be allowed. They stress the environment too much when set off and there's too few places/methods to set them off that have minimal impact on local human life/property.

Plus, there's people aplenty who are missile hobbyists and are unfairly banned from pursuing their peaceful interest.

That's just not true. You can set them off in uninhabited desserts and they will have 0 negative impact on humans. So the question remains, I'm a responsible citizen with the means of purchasing a nuclear weapon and firing it off safely, why shouldn't I be able to have one?

Because then government defense would become useless. Once you can deploy your own nuclear missiles in your backyard and can strike your enemies or defend against their attacks, basically all the government employees would have to be fired and go home, start doing something else. So they won't allow you to own your own nuclear weapons, just because they don't want to lose their jobs.

Modern nuclear warheads are much stronger, their applied power and radius are not totally defined yet, alsho I think exploding a nuclear warhead will pretty much always cause significant environmental impacts--at a minimum making the area where they exploded a no go.

That's not true, every dessert is uninhabited in the first place. They're also around where humans are: coffee shops, bakeries, etc.

i would go ballistic if i'd fine a person, or even a piece of a person in my pudding... The restaurant would get sued for every cent they have. Also you shouldn't buy your pudding at coffee shops (unless they are magic puddings) or bakeries, there are too many people around there that can end up in your pudding.
